Asda hiking the price

Been buying Banks Bitter for years and up until recently it was £1.12 in Asda, they've now nearly doubled it to £2 (Tesco is £1 and Morrisons 99p), this is a massive mark up and it's not only on beer. It's been all over the news that they've got thousands of products cheaper but what they don't say is that a lot of other things have been doubled. Disgusting Asda.

They are all at it, how do you think they manage to fund the "massive price cuts", certainly not by actually reducing overall pricing. Their computers know exactly how to fund a decrease on some items by increasing others to be cost neutral. Tesco have recently increased Sanex Zero shower gel from the general price everywhere of £3, usually reduced to £2.50, up to £3.75.1

It's not like they've just doubled the price of baby formula - it's just beer!Parslee said:

It's a commercial decision by Asda, they don't think they will make less money by flogging the stuff at £2.
Go and buy it at Tesco or Morrisons - they deliver too.4 -
But how much do you pay for delivery?? Does it make it worthwhile??? (never had groceries delivered so all I know is the horror stories about people ordering beer and ginger beer substituted or similar)flaneurs_lobster said:

£8 per month at Morrisons, can be stopped whenever suits. For that you can have as many deliveries as you need as long as you meet minimum spend which I believe is £25.Brie said:

It is a handy system for someone wanting to ensure a elderly relative receives twice weekly deliveries of fresh food if there is nobody nearby to assist.
Forget the horror stories, the companies do their best to keep things running smoothly and is it a disaster if they get offered a 2 litre carton of milk when 1 litre cartons are unavailable?
Edit: Meant to add if you are not to hung up on sticking to a particular brand or item doing your shopping online makes it easier to shop offers which can be worth more to you than the cost of the delivery pass.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke2 -
It can be down to stock control, rather than have a empty space whack the price up so less people will buy.

Sounds like you need to shop in Morrisons.Parslee said:Been buying Banks Bitter for years and up until recently it was £1.12 in Asda, they've now nearly doubled it to £2 (Tesco is £1 and Morrisons 99p), this is a massive mark up and it's not only on beer. I don't buy Banks's but I notice the bottom shelf is usually £1 bottles, and they occasionally have slightly better beers reduced to £11
