Morning everyone we have snow it’s still snowing a little bit now but due to turn to rain later in the day and a balmy 8 degrees tomorrow I hope they are right I’m another that’s a bit stir crazy I hate January anyway . I’ve cooked a little pork joint we will have veg and Yorkshire pudding later but it will be a lazy day I think hubby will take the little dog out later she loves the snow she’s been like a young pup this morning running about in it she’s in front of the fire now until her next walk . Silver oldie you have given me an idea I might be brave and look in a couple of cupboards and have a bit of a sort out . Gers pleased you had a lovely catch up with your nephew TA and yorks lass when the girl at the charity shop showed us the photos of her house I did say do you ever sit on the sofas it was immaculate I was amazed and we all said don’t invite us we would be terrified to move but to be fair her and her hubby are never in they sit in cafes a lot and have a cuppa and a snack she says that’s what they like doing each to there own but. I would rather have my house with the crumbs . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

Morning everyone
Pouring with rain here and windy, but apparently it's going to be 10 degrees and sunny tomorrow...weird weather!
Little one managed 4 days at school this week and now she has a chest infection and a runny nose! She came up to my house yesterday lunchtime and was fine in herself, but coughing a lot. We spent a lovely afternoon doing experiments from the science kit I got her for her birthday...she liked the erupting volcano one the best. There's still lots left for another day. She didn't stay just in case she was worse during the night.
I'm getting a taxi down to their house later, DD is cooking a roast beef lunch, which I'm looking forward to.
Hopefully little one will be ok to go to school tomorrow, now she has antibiotics. There are two new children starting in her class tomorrow, which she is nervous about, she told me yesterday she was scared they would laugh at her alarm going off....she likes the familiarity of everyone knowing about her.
My dad isn't well he has been having awful diarrhoea, mam is going to ring 111 this morning and see if they can organise someone to come and see him.
Izzy, I'm with the others, I've never had an immaculate house, it's clean but looks like I live in it...always books lying around!
Thanks for the good wishes for DD, she is really looking forward to getting her first baby, so is little one.
Right I'd best move...I'll do my ironing before I go out. Hope everyone has a good day x12 -
Morning all
Feels a little bit milder here today but with a drizzly rain so no washing will be hung outside.
I did my tax return yesterday so that’s done for another year, just OH to do in April as he is on a CIS card.
We are having a bit of beef today which was 1/2 price before Christmas I will do some yorkshires with it and some veg and roasties, I have some swede and carrot mash in the freezer so I will get that out, and some sprouts and green beans.
We need to put the decorations back in the loft today, most of the housework was done yesterday including a deep clean of the bathroom, I will run the hoover over later to pick up the bits that the dogs have bought in.
I placed an order for our flooring just after Christmas, they told us it would be arriving last Monday so dd stayed in all day waiting, only to get an email that evening to say something had been missed off and they would deliver another day, Thursday we got an email saying it would be delivered late afternoon, the chap came to the door with a long tube which we assumed was the threshold and then went back to his van (we thought to get the floor tiles) and drove off! Yesterday I opened the tube and it was not the threshold but something else, we have paid nearly £500 and got nothing that we ordered, I sent an email last night saying if the whole order was not here by Tuesday then I will be opening a claim, thank goodness I paid through PayPal, we have been unable to start any work while we are waiting as the floor needs to go down first 😡 I’ve a good mind to cancel the order and get it elsewhere.
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Good morning all, thanks @Gers for today's start, glad you had a good meet up yesterday with your nephew.
I must have tempted fate yesterday by saying we hadn't had any snow at all - it arrived overnight.
It's just a light covering and, if/when the promised rain arrives along with higher temperatures, it shouldn't be around for too long. It's bitterly cold though so I'm another one not going anywhere today. The frost hung around all day yesterday with icy patches on the pavements so the planned shopping trip got cancelled - there was nothing on the list that couldn't wait anyway.
Today I want to spend some time going through the book where I keep all the recipes I've collected over the years; some of the pages are falling out, others are stained and it's just generally in a sad state. I have a new (and better) book that I got from the CS last year so time to transfer over the recipes I want to keep. I'll start by getting rid of ones I know I won't use again, then transfer the good old favourites before moving on to whatever is left. The plan is to make one of the latter each week before deciding if it's a keeper and I'm hoping there'll be the added bonus of using up forgotten items from the pantry.
Dinner tonight is beef casserole, veg and potatoes followed by yogurt with defrosted raspberries stirred through.
Have a good day all, stay safe if you're going to be out and about in a wintry wonderland, take care. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Hello all, we have light rain and it's much warmer, tptb say we could hit 12 degrees today !
Yesterday I pottered about and did some washing which is dry this morning. We had a visit from our young neighbour Tom yesterday afternoon asking for some advice from Mr Fix It. He plonked himself on our sofa and stayed for over an hour, gosh that man could talk a glass eye to sleep 😂I made a lasagne for our tea which was lovely, I haven't made one for such a long time and put the rest of the cooked mince in the freezer.
Today will be another day of pottering and some catching up of recorded TV ( our sk* recordings went wonky last night, but is now fixed with a reboot). I have an online shop to organise and dinner today will be some sliced turkey breast leftover from xmas with roasties etc.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Good morning - just - everyone
We have rain here so all signs of snow/ice have gone.
Busy doing some housework with a wash on the go and ironing to look forward to.
Food will be chicken with a mushroom sauce I think, but that might change.
Thoughts with the sad, lonely or poorlies.
Take care x10 -
Good afternoon
A later one from me again, I must get into the habit of posting when I get up, as I used to. I even forgot to post yesterday, never mind, nothing much to mention.
It's raining here, and the temperatures up to 5 degrees, the snow and ice is disappearing. Hopefully OH will be able to get down to his man shed soon and put the decs away which are still living in the hall.
Roast lamb for dinner, one of the half price ones I got before Christmas. I've made my favourite cauli cheese to have with it, and done some roasties.
Other than that nothing else happening, DH says there's a football match on tv this afternoon. I'm looking forward to the return of Call the Midwife tonight.
Enjoy the rest of the day all, take care.12 -
It's always a surprise when one's offspring ask for advice, isn't it?! After all those years of not taking things in, they suddenly want their parent's wisdom!mehefin said:
DS rang me twice yesterday!! He forgot something he had to tell me on the first call, so I was rather surprised at the second! He actually wanted my advice !! The upshot is that they are now in a position to overpay on their mortgage ( something I have been banging on about since they first got together) and as their mortgage is split ( I don't know the details) should they pay off on the larger sum or or the lesser? No brainer to me so I gave them my thoughts , which concurred with theirs, hopefully they will push on now.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
