Morning, thanks Gers.
We've had more snow here, but the temps are forecast to rise to 9° on Tuesday, so I'm looking forward to that.
We weren't out at all yesterday, but defrosted and tidied the freezer. I can now see what to use up.
Nothing much happening today, we'll see. I'm getting a bit stir crazy, we've been in so much over the last few weeks, but may get out a bit next week.
Hope everyone's ok and has as good a day as they can.
Stay warm and safe folks.15 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Overnight snow here too Scarlet.. It's still gently falling but those who know say it will change to sleet or rain later. I too am looking forward to the milder weather ahead. I seem to have turned into a recluse since Christmas but it's not worth venturing out and risking a broken limb as the hospitals are clogged up enough.
I have the last Shepherds Pie base out defrosting for lunch, plus a pack of mince to make a fresh batch. Also got a tub of soup out to make a bit more room out there. I tidied the big freezer out through the week but it's in dire need of a defrost though that is on hold until the milder weather arrives.
If I get bored there is a bit of ironing to deal with but no immediate rush for that! So probably a Sunday of Sloth under the heated throw will follow after lunch. I have a backlog of stuff still to watch that got recorded over the festive period.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -

Morning again - we have heavy rain outside and a flood warning in place so I doubt I'll be venturing anywhere.I had a really lovely time with my nephew, his colleague joined us too (couldn't leave him in the hotel by himself) which was great. We stayed in my hotel lounge, eating, a little drinking and lots of chatting. Both my journeys were easy, not much traffic except the final three miles into Glasgow on Friday when schools were coming out, that was so slow. My nephew met me at the bus station, he's a good lad!Not much on my day plan 😅 apart from a small wash and some soup making. My emerging plan is easy tomato and add a tin of lentils or chickpeas before blending although I probably should pass the it before adding beans. There's a lot of seeds to get stuck! It'll come together when I get there.I hope that everyone is safe from floods, snow and wind. Hugs to all, enjoy Sunday.15

Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
Still very cold but we haven't had snow. I'm staying indoors as it seems silly risk a fall.
Tidied two shelves in a kitchen cupboard. Nothing thrown out but it's all in date order. Might try and do a bit more today.
Freezer is full so today I'll start using the cheap veg I bought and froze at Christmas.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.15 -
Morning all
Yesterday was icy!! Had to resort to salt/grit on the drive, I don’t like using it because I think it degrades the tarmac and slabs but huge patches of thawed snow had created several mini skating rinks. Anyway DM safely deposited and collected and now with two extra units of blood.
I made bread and soup, did washing and steamed floors and managed a dog walk and lots of craft and work too. A bit weary last night,
It’s due to rain most of the day and hit the dizzy heights of 10C so hopefully the remaining snow will disappear. More of the same really though more craft and fewer chores hopefully 🙄
Take care all

Morning All
Absolutely pouring down this morning, such a change to yesterday's ice. My driveway was solid ice despite me gritting it the other day so decided to have a day indoors, there was nothing I needed.
Made soup, finished a book, watched TV while knitting and generally had a lovely day to myself after a busy week back at work.
Glad you survived the steps TA!
Well done to folks sorting their freezers, I did mine before Christmas but it's a mess again already with trying to get soup in the little spaces.
Glad you had a good time with your nephew Gers.
Going to a friends for soup and a sandwich at lunchtime and to collect a vintage tea set she is saving me after helping a relation sorting out her loft, looking forward to that.
Hope everyone stays safe and warm, take care. XX

Good idea for a freezer and cupboard sort out @silver-oldie - I must do mine, especially the corner cupboard of doom.Ooh vintage tea set sounds lovely @camelot1001 how exciting!
Glad your DM got to have her appointment @AlwaysAllie x.Have a good day everyone

Morning all from a dull and wet Mehefinland
It does seem a little milder this morning, but SOOO dark.
The community litter pick yesterday yielded 7 bags of stuff, Only one member of the public turned up which was disappointing, We are having a by-election for a community councillor (parish in England) on Thursday - absolutely ridiculous waste of time and money. Two political parties are jostling to get their candidate elected - which will cost the council approx £6k. It could have been done by co-option an Nil cost. The best is, as we had another resignation, that there will probably be another one in February at a similar cost. All money which could have been put to better use. The ill wind however does benefit the library, as it is the designated polling station and we get a fee. But where were the candidates for a community event? You've guessed it- not a sign. Rant over!
DS rang me twice yesterday!! He forgot something he had to tell me on the first call, so I was rather surprised at the second! He actually wanted my advice !! The upshot is that they are now in a position to overpay on their mortgage ( something I have been banging on about since they first got together) and as their mortgage is split ( I don't know the details) should they pay off on the larger sum or or the lesser? No brainer to me so I gave them my thoughts , which concurred with theirs, hopefully they will push on now.
Have found someone who may be interested/able to ride Showman for me on occasions- hope to meet up in the week providing the weather is ok. I need to be confident that they are competent- he is not a novice ride and I do not want anybody getting hurt ( horse or human). Time will tell.
Hope the snowbound are thawing out. Roads gritted overnight here and then it rained -typical.
Hugs and spoons as always
