Morning all, thanks for today's start @Scarlet. Yes, I remember Spekey too and us all getting excited at the thought of wedding hats, I wonder what happened to him.
I think I must be in a fortunate part of the country as we've still not had any snow - not that I want any! This morning it's a bright and sunny start to the day but chilly with a covering of frost, likely to be around zero degrees all day and dipping down to minus figures overnight.
Good visit to the hairdresser yesterday, apart from a substantial increase in price
but, tbf, I think she's been under-pricing herself for a good while. Another juggle of the finances will be needed! Anyway, much hair chopped off and now looking respectable. On the way home I got off the bus a couple of stops early for a browse round the CSs and bought another jigsaw puzzle, then called in at the stationery shop on my way past there. By the time I got home, I was cold/hungry/tired and in desperate need of the loo! I had an early night and feel refreshed today, despite waking twice, once for a loo break and once when I got cramp in my foot.
So, today's plans - small shop needed at the Co-op, drop off soft plastics, bake a loaf, put away dry laundry and a whites/lights wash to go in the WM. Garlic Kyiv, braised red cabbage and oven chips for tea.
@TA - Hope you manage to fix the blind but please be careful on that ladder!
Nothing else springs to mind so I'll wish everyone a good day (followed by a restful night for the sleepless) and send hugs for those needing one. Stay safe and take care. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.13 -
Hi everyone,
Mehefin, I've been here a good long while as well, I think I joined the forum in 2005 so I remember a lot of people who've come and gone over the years.
TA, maybe you'd better let us know you've survived the steps otherwise we'll be wondering.
We have no snow, we live in a little corner where we rarely get weather extremes for some reason. I've certainly noticed the difference in the number of rain days when we visit Bristol.
YL I feel as if my hairdresser puts up her prices every couple of months. I have fine hair which is cut short and takes about 5 minutes to blow dry but it costs £42 every 6 to 8 weeks.
Not a lot happening here today, YS lamb steaks taken out of the freezer for dinner, I'll bake them en papillote with aubergines, courgettes, mushrooms and tomatoes, very yummy.
Have a good day.13 -
Morning all
Cold and frosty here but no snow, I would love it to so w but it’s very rare here on the south coast.
OH has just done to get his dads shopping he had 7 phone calls yesterday while he was at work and when he picked up after work it was to say there is a shopping list - 🙄 yes like there is every Saturday, he has the patience of a saint.
Dinner tonight is some lovely thick pork chops with some hm chips and garlic roasted plum tomatoes OH said he will cook so a night off for me.
Thank you for all the good wishes re my new job, I hope it lasts, his mum seems to have a high turnover of staff and has fallen out with all of her neighbours so there is a small bit of me that thinks she might be troublesome but I will just have to see how it goes. He is delightful though which makes it a lovely job.
Dp1 congratulations to your dd, I know what a panel interview is like as I had one for my current job so good for her xx
TA be careful up the ladder xx
Mehefin plenty more fish in the sea xxx
Have good days all and take care xx13 -
Morning everyone we have a very white morning but it’s frost not snow thankfully but it’s lovely and bright which helps the mood . We have been to fill the car up and called for eggs but I don’t need anything else at the food waste yesterday there was so many tomatoes that we couldn’t fit anything else in the bags so they said help ourselves to what we wanted I now have a big pan of tomato soup on the go it will do for my lunch for weeks now where I am going to put it when it’s done is another problem I’m going to have a least a wriggle about in the freezers . Ruby it was lovely hearing about your new job yesterday what a difference you are going to make to that young man’s life and also his poor mam she must be worn out never getting a break . TA you must let us all know if you are back safely up them steps . I must get some housework done a girl at the charity shop has put her house up for sale she was showing us the pictures beautiful but not a speck of dust or a thing out of place a proper show home I can only dream I’m just looking around Therese a half done jigsaw in the middle of the table and the dog is upside down on the couch with her head on a cushion she’s pulled down I hope she never comes here . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Yes Snoozer I survived the little steps OK. Only needed to go.up 2 steps so wouldn't have had far to fall! Blind sorted.
Now back from Sainsbobs and shopping away. Apart from eggs which were on my list but still managed to forget them. Grr. It was very quiet again and straight to a checkout. X"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Glad to hear you're still in one piece @TA!
@snoozer - Pre-Covid I used to have a short pixie cut that needed a trim every 6 weeks, now it's a jaw length bob that's much easier to manage so every 8 weeks is about right. I don't spend much on beauty products but a decent trim is the one thing I won't compromise on and I could stretch to 10 weeks if need be. My hairdresser now charges £43 for roughly half an hour's work that's about par for the course around here, but, best of all, she does do what I want her to do so no scalped disasters!
@Izzy - I don't have a show home either, it's a lived-in home; clean - yes, tidy - most of the time. Cosy and welcoming and that's how I like it.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Izzy that sounds like a house not a home. I'd be frightened of visiting in case I spilled my coffee over the pristine carpet or sofa! A bit like Mrs. Bucket's neighbour! X"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9
