Economy 7/off peak tarrifs

You can’t go on snug at 1st , you go on a off peak Standard tariff then when you are fully over yo octopus you change to snug
doesn’t take long , I think I was on standard for a week or so , then I could change over to snug
best to ring octopus they are very helpful , rather than doing it online2 -
Good energy EV tarrif with 5p at night (0-5am) and 29p during the day, no you don't need EV and it's clearly stated. Although it may be tricky to ensure that storage heaters only charge during that period.
Our meter is registered as E7 and we only see these kind of tarriffs but with Octopus it was very easy to switch - quick call and next day you are changed to E7/not-E7.1 -
5 hrs at this time of year may not be enough for some homes - as most NSH are rated for 7 hrs - and sizing calcs will assume that full charge - albeit likes of Dimplex sizing tool defaults to assume -3 average but suggests change to -5 Scotland iirc.
And SP (central belt and Southern Scotland) whitemeter their old pseudo e7 twin rate - gives 8/8.5 hrs. And some of tge old rts went higher - SP weathercall and SSE THTC iirc as high as 12 hours restricted on a weather dependent basis (despite the SandS=SouthernE they cover Northern Scotland) - and Old SSE thtc rts meters have been swapped iirc by Ovo to legacy E10 tariff smart meters in many cases - twice that 5 hrs window to still give 10 hrs split 3 times a day (but at over 20p iirc one recent post). For the harsher climate.

For some days it may be not enough for for many plenty.
In my case most E7 are 13p/31p so moving to EV tarriffs with 5p/29p saves a lot.
But depends on many factors like where you live etc.0 -
Did your nsh rely on meter alcs - restricted time feed for charging ?
Ifcso, what did they do with alcs calander timings when went to EV ?0 -
I wonder if Economy 7 is variable whereas I’ve been looking at fixed?E7 gets fixed deals just like single rate.
I wonder if your smart meter was installed as single rate and that is why BG won't do it. BG do offer E7 but they dont allow people to move from single rate to E7 if the meter does not support (other suppliers will).
Have you checked whether your meter is currently set up as single rate or multi-rate? do your bills give a single meter reading or two meter readings?
