I would be the 'main' driver. Yes, I'd add daughter and give her driving experience alongside her lessons - in practice she may well do more miles in it than me. But I will be teaching her to drive in my car.
So she would be the main driver.

Remember, too, that the registered keeper is nothing to do with who OWNS the car legally.
It's simply who is legally responsible for ensuring it's taxed and that any s172 requests to identify the driver are dealt with.

If it helps, provisional driving insurance is way cheaper than new driver insurance, as they are deemed less of a risk as always being accompanied at that point. There are companies that specifically do learner driver policies. My son was with Collingwood on his car when learning, his dad set it up and I think he found them one of the better ones.

It is when they pass that the premiums become eye watering!

    No she wouldn't.
There's a possibility she'll cover more miles behind the wheel than me, but it ain't going to be a competition. I repeat, this will be my (and wife's) car, paid for, registered, used. I will also use it to teach daughter to drive.
She could very well find me an intolerable teacher - what are the chances?
