Horizon parking charges from Tesco Hove with a little twist.

Hi all!!

So not sure if this is a unique one but we apparently "breached" the parking conditions twice at Tesco car park, Hove, in Oct last year but there's a slight technicality.

Myself and my partner purchased the vehicle from a dealer in 2024 but the dealer registered the car in my name at my mums address and it should have been registered in my partners name at our address. We have the emails from us to the dealer confirming which name and address it should have been registered to. (I can explain why if you really need me to).

It was realised a while ago when a little time had passed and we still didn't recieve the new V5. We then set out to get this changed and it had taken ages to get the dealer and the DVLA to talk to one another and issue a new V5, (which has now been done).

As a consequence, Horizon were sending the letters to my 87 years old mums house as that was where the car was registered to at the time of the "breach" and each time I went to visit her she would forget to hand me the letters, (she's 87 and can be a little forgetful) until last month when she handed me 3 letters for each of the charges.

You guys have helped me in the past with parking charges so I'm fairly well rehearsed on how to deal with them but as this is potentially a little unique I thought I'd ask here what the best way is to deal with this one.

Thanks in advance!!

Horizon certainly followed the rules and processes and sent the NTK PCN letter to the DVLA registered address,  nothing wrong there.  Councils, police and other organisations would have done the same thing

Any address can be used for the service of papers, so although its a good explanation of the facts,  it doesn't really change the current situation

Complain about it to the landowner or business and get it or the cancelled,  plan A  ( plan A never changes,  never expires and should always be tried . )

You can certainly Complain to Horizon about it as keeper,  explain the address mixup and ask them to reissue the pcns, or ignore them until the later legal stages , ignoring the powerless debt collectors letters

Nothing can be a little unique, it either is or isn't unique!  I note you are getting the keeper's address sorted with DVLA - good.  Inform the DPO of the Parking Company of your correct address for service and inform them they must ERASE any old address they hold for you.  They must also inform any and all of their agents and sub-contractors of your address.  Then, as @Gr1pr writes, Plan A and read the NEWBIE sticky.

Did you search the forum for Tesco Hove?

I've replied on several threads about the scam changes there. No entrance sign exists at all and I posted a whole set of photos (taken by my Portslade based relative) to prove it.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

  • Thanks everyone!!

Yes, DVLA and the dealer finally got in touch with one another and it's all sorted with the up to date details.

C-M. Yes, I did read the thread on Tesco Hove. All great info as usual!!

    I'll get all that done.

    Cheers...
