Morning everyone we have a white frost but it’s bright I’m just waiting for the washer to finish there’s some jeans in they might get hung out and they will finish off on the airier I’m going to make a couple of quiche today but they are cheat ones I was supposed to be making pastry but I’ve a couple of wraps in the freezer I’m using them as a base just to use them up not that it will give me much of a gap . Silver oldie I don’t blame you for staying in I’m another that is not crossing the doorway today I’ve got plenty to keep me occupied. Ruby pleased it went well for you yesterday DP1 fingers crossed for DD and I’m pleased you managed to get something in place for your parents it will give you a little bit of peace of mind . AA your trip sounds lovely and nice to hear you managed to stay warm . Gers I’m pleased Lionel is feeling more comfortable TA I can’t face looking in my freezers again until after the weekend slowly but surely I’m using stuff up and I suppose I’m not spending any money. Morning all. It's dreary and slightly misty here this morning but no overnight frost. DH has been covering his windscreen each night just in case
I think the snow will fall again tomorrow.
We are off out for a pub lunch today and then tonight is a trip to MK Panto. I think it's Goldilocks, with Brian Connolly but am sure it will be fun.
In the meantime we still need to take down the Christmas lights from the front of the house. They are switched off but need to get up the ladder to remove them.
@RedRuby1231: that sounds like quite a physical job to me so I hope it's not too exhausting. Good luck for today.
Stay warm and dry everyone. Hugs to all.14 -
Morning all, thanks @Gers for the start off. It's going to be a cloudy but dry day here until late afternoon/early evening before the rain and/or sleet arrives. It does feel slightly milder though. I haven't been out of the door yet but it still looks icy underfoot; I have some rubbish to put out but need to go down a small flight of stairs and across the yard to get to the bins so it might have to wait. I'm not risking any falls or broken bones.
Yesterday's highlight of the day was my new kettle being delivered; it's lighter and much quieter than my old one so I'm happy with it. I felt sorry for the courier, he looked absolutely frozen. Yesterday's success was getting Tuesday's shopping portioned and in the freezer - just!
I think I've got the hang of cooking for one now but shopping for one is proving more of a challenge.
This morning I've braved the scales and, as expected, the pounds are creeping back on.
Thankfully, most of the festive temptations have been consumed so it's back to a more sensible eating pattern. Just the usual day to day stuff to do today but I'll try to squeeze in some of Friday's admin too as I have a long-awaited appointment with the hairdresser tomorrow. I usually get the bus there and back but, if it's still icy, will get a taxi instead. It's so long since I've been, there's more than enough money in the hairdressing pot to pay for one.
@Ruby - Happy to hear yesterday's first trial day went well, I hope today will be just as good. It does sound quite challenging though.
@Gers - Good that Lionel's new meds are helping and he has a helpful neighbour. Quite often my days don't have 'a shape' either, I just go with the flow.
@TA - Re the WM, what do they say - where there's a will? Happy days.
@AA - Glad you had a good tripette and the van was cosy. Hope you manage to get DM to her blood transfusion appointment.
@dp1 - The care alarm systems are very useful, the trickier part may be getting Mam and Dad to remember to wear the wrist bands. Good luck.
Have the best day you can, stay safe and warm. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning folks.
First grocery shop of the year done ! Today will be a reset day. I need to get out to the freezer in the shed for a mooch around as I haven't updated my food list lately. I am sure there is a joint of meat lurking in there.
Ecoflow batteries are charged up ready for the storm. I need to get some more logs in too, but I am just enjoying a nice cup of coffee before I crack on (DH is out with his old boys bacon sandwich club)10 -
Good morning
Dull and foggy here, but very quiet and still. The calm before the storm. Luckily I went out yesterday and got essentials so won't have to go out if it's bad. I also got the birthday cards needed, six of them, thought I'd have to take out a bank loan. That and the price of the stamps, but that's it now until September.
Sausages and mash tonight, nice comfort food.
Ruby, glad everything went well yesterday, hope today is just as good.
Dp1, I'm pleased Mum and Dad are getting help, and good luck to your DD.
SO, very wise to stay in, there will be plenty of opportunities for walks when the weather's better.
Hello to everyone else I've forgotten, my memories not improving with age.
Have a good day all, take care.
