Morning Gers and all to follow,
Its been raining in the night so hopefully it’s not frosty out there it’s too dark to see atm, I’m up a bit earlier than usual as I start with my new chap today I have said I will do two trial days before deciding anything so we will see how it goes, they want me to start at 8 so an earlier start for me.
Dinner tonight will be pie and mash I think, I have some gravy in the freezer from Christmas so I will get that out and there are some sprouts and green beans to go with it DD is off today so she will probably get the veg done this morning.
I need to do an online shop tonight we are running out of a few things so I can hopefully get a delivery soon.
Taff the insurance company did offer to do the work for us but we would have to wait till the end of February for them to start so we asked for the money and would do it ourselves, we can pay OH for the days he works and it will hopefully be done sooner.
Have good days all and take care xx14 -
Morning GERS and thanks for the new Daily. I'm still a member of Insomniacs R Us and getting fed up of the early morning waking. I can get to sleep ok, I just can't stay asleep.
We got rain yesterday afternoon and that got rid of the frozen snow. But the wet ground now looks frozen and hazardous. It should have been bus trip day today but ever since my bus buddy fell and fractured her pelvic bone last winter she is frightened of falling again so our bus trip has been postponed until next Wednesday (weather permitting)
So today is another day of same old same old, doing bitsa this and bitsa that. The freezers didn't get their half promised sort out yesterday but instead I did a bit more cupboard clearing. Quite a few very well out of date spices and packets got binned. Another cupboard will get looked at today but I expect more stuff well beyond use by will hit the bin. The cupboard of doom (under the sink) will be next.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, getting better, sad or stressed. Take care all, stay safe whatever weather you are having. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning allWas expecting snow overnight but that didn't materialise thank goodness. We had a flurry yesterday afternoon but most of that is gone and what is left has just turned to ice. Only done the bare basic of housework for the last 2 weeks but now the decs are gone and everything is back to normal I will do a proper upstairs and tomorrow downstairs dust and polish etc. Some ironing to do later too. Got to keep myself warm somehow!Nothing else planned for today so keep warm and safe everyone x12

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
Had a chat/finger wag at DS2 re: walking home - apparently the train broke down FIVE stops away from home so he walked further than we thought. Took him 4.5 hours. He didn’t want to wake us/inconvenience us, so have told him not to do that again. And also to claim a refund - the station staff asked everyone to leave the station building!!I am WFH today as new boss said it’s icy on the 7 minute drive to her house. Fine by me - we are having a conference call to discuss working practices. I have an M&S order to collect after work and a sympathy card to buy as a friends DDad passed away on Monday.Good luck for the new support role @RedRuby1231 hope it goes well x
Don’t blame you stopping in @TravellingAbuela - have told my Mum not to go to knitting club today - not worth the risk of a fall. Whether she listens is another matter! 🙄
Stay warm everyone

Good morning, thanks Gers.
Well, the snow has gone! We went to the quiz, it was fine walking down, no slippery patches. Coming back was a different story, it had rained then frozen, so was pretty hazardous. However, we got home without any falls.
Everything is still frozen, hope it thaws out.
I haven't tackled the freezer yet, but it will have to be done - what is it about freezers, ours always seem to need sorting out. Maybe I'm just a messy so and so.
I slept quite well last night, for me. I don't kid myself though, tonight I'll be back to waking in the very early hours and be unable to drop off again. Like T A, it's staying asleep that's the problem.
Hope your day goes well Ruby.
I've got ironing to do as well Chrisca, it's a good warming job!
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, stay warm and safe folks.

Morning all
well, despite the predictions all the snow disappeared overnight ,eas raining earlier ,but now stopped and looking quite bright !
TA I’m the opposite to you ,have real trouble getting to sleep ,(2am ) this morning ,but then sleep reasonably for 4-5 hours !
Will go and do belated shop later ,and hopefully a bit more sorting
has anyone used that old cow site that seems to be continually advertised at the moment.
I’m unearthing a lot of bits and pieces mainly from sorting my aunties and mother’s houses and am wondering about sending them ?
keep safe all15 -
Morning again. It's rainy here so a little bit milder than previous days. I had planned to take my car down for the repair to the parking sensors but the part hadn't arrived in, actually I was glad to cancel. The staff will ring when the part arrives though it needs painted to match the car before being installed.
My cleaner is coming this morning so I'll need to whizz round putting away stuff from the coffee table. The advent wreath was dealt with yesterday and the cards are in the recycling bag - no glitter. Once he's here I'm going up to the a couple of villages up to take a friend shopping in the big town. Her husband is laid up and she doesn't drive. He seems to have the same infliction as Lionel.
Talking of whom - he's now got the new medication and has promised to contact a private physio rather than wait for the NHS to kick in. He can afford it and the local systems are pushed. I've made contact with his niece who lives down south as he hadn't told her the extent of his difficulties. We now are in discussions, along with Lionel, about which functions to take on as his POA. Sensibly, he's very engaged with this, perhaps resigned to it, so that helps.
I hope that all goes well @Ruby. Don't know if anyone's seen that @Florenceem OH died the other day - it's on the new decluttering / redistribution thread. Florence used to post here last year.
Take care all, seems the those in the south of England are due more snow. Keep safe and warm. Hugs to all.

I remember Florenceem's DH being ill and in and of hospital but I didn't know he had died. So a sad time for her. A few of us on here have been in her shoes and will know how she is feeling x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13

Good morning
Dry outside and cloudy, temperatures of 3 degrees. The calm before the storm so I hear.
Will pop to the shops today, I need to get some birthday cards and will top up any essentials incase we can't get out over the next couple of days.
Last night's pie was delicious, enough left for a rinse and repeat tonight.
Gers, I remember Florenceem, a lovely lady who I bought some of her crafts from a couple of years ago, all proceeds for The Salvation Army. So sad she has lost her husband, as I read she was devoted to him.
Have a good day all whatever you're doing. Take care.13 -
Morning all. It rained last night so all the snow is now gone, although there's more forecast for Friday.
First Morris practice of the year last night and it seems we don't have enough people making puddings for the Plough Tuesday meal next week. I've already made and frozen an apple crumble so will look at making a chocolate cream pie, as I've got most of the ingredients in the cupboard.
First load of washing in and I've only had a small breakfast as I'm off to lunch with the Community Larder Volunteers (who all happen to be female). We've had to close last week and this as our hall is being redecorated. I offered to organise gifts for our two organisers so will get there a bit early to squirrel them away somewhere.
@Suffolksue; some years ago I had some old jewellery to dispose of and took it to a local independent shop, who looked at it, listed it in a book and wrote me out a cheque! Not sure I'd want to send stuff away for valuation.
Have a good day everyone. Stay warm and hope the sandman visits those in need tonight.13
