Online LPA, timescales

I have just completed an online LPA for myself and having got all the signatures after a family gathering at Christmas sent it off for them to register. I am aware that if you don't return it within 42 days (from December 12th in my case) they refund your payment. I sent it tracked and it was delivered by Royal Mail on January 3rd but is still shown as 'waiting' in my online account and it suggest it could take up to a month for them to update this.

Do I assume they actually record receipt rather sooner than this so that most of the 42 days is not taken up by their delays?

I did LPA's online for my mother July 2024.

Despite having them both returned to me completed and registered with OPG, one is still showing 'waiting' when I look online.

I don't recall exactly how long it took the other to change from 'waiting', maybe a couple of weeks? It definitely didn't happen as soon as they received it

Thanks, so it looks like that 'waiting' thing only gets changed when somebody gets round to it. So no need to worry, just wait for it to drop back through the letter box.

I completed 2 LPAs last Summer, both came back within 10 weeks.

There's little point in sending tracked post to Government departments - most of it just arrives in sacks to the offices and will get signed for or noted as delivered in bulk if at all.

the next stage will be for the OPG to write to those named as PoAs and any other named interested parties to make them aware of the application and give them time (28 days ?) to object if they want to.

So it will be a while before it drops back through your letterbox.
