Today is less cold and a bit milder though the price is rain. Yesterday was so lovely, bright clear and freezing. I had the fire on all day.My door handle was properly fixed. The chap brought a tiny Allen key which he then gave me. Job done. Mind you, not much else was done after that, the high point was lunch. The soup was very tasty, there's enough for today and probably tomorrow too.Must away, be back later. X15

Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
It's -1 here but feels much colder. Dread to think what the heating bill is going to be but the government's £200 is a great help
Not.much planned for today, I need to sort the freezer and a few drawers in the kitchen.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.15 -
Good morning, thanks Gers.
I just started a new thread then saw yours Gers, you were first so I'll just post here.
Not that I have much to say! It's still bitterly cold and the ice and snow hasn't moved at all. I didn't go to the reading group, or visit my friend up the road, I thought it was too treacherous.
I have quite bad osteoporosis and don't want to risk a fall.
I think the temperature has to rise a bit today, if so we'll get the bus and go to a nearby shopping centre. It's all indoors, so will be ok for walking about. Tbh, we'll both be glad to go out.
I'm sorry that your Mam seems to be deteriorating so quickly Dp1. It's a sad situation.
Ruby, hope your Oh can have a word with his dad about the multiple calls.
Thoughts to SuffolkSue, and other sad or poorly people.I
Stay warm and safe folks.

Morning all-5 here this morningNothing much going on today except having to take a second urine sample to doctors and then popping, ironically because of the weather, to Iceland for a few bits as my freezer seems to be different to alot of yours as it's quite empty!
Hope everyone keeps warm and has a good day x14 -
Morning GERS and all to follow. No warmer here sadly and yesterday's snow is still lying there frozen and deadly!
Yesterday ended up with not doing much! I attempted a bit of a freezer sort out to make way for some of the soup I had made but didn't get very far. Too cold for that job. But I did transfer some of the Christmas stuff from the small freezer to the big one, shoved randomly here and there. I may go out in coat and gloves later and make a better job of it.
Like YL my credit card bill "announcement" plopped into my inbox yesterday.. Considering it covered much pre-Xmas spending it wasn't as bad as I expected. That got paid off straight away and then a shuffle round of money followed.
Today's lunch with DF isn't happening but I didn't expect it to. She is still suffering the after effects of the lurgy that struck them both mid December. And 3 weeks on they are both still coughing and spluttering. She can't decide if it was flu, Covid or a combination of both but felt really ill with it.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care all, stay safe x

Back.. my SIL in Oz phoned with news about the birthday parties for two of the niblings who are one year and one week apart. Seems to be chaos there. My friend Lionel is is rather a bad way with what seems to be sciatica though I have my doubts. Anyway, I had to get a bit cross with him yesterday. He decides things then puts then off until 'later' which then becomes a month. Last week he decided to have his bathroom changed to a walk in shower so I sent him details of the excellent company used by a number of his friends then yesterday he said he'd wait a while until he was pain free and was worried they may come that day. A cross few moments worked. He phoned them and also tackled three other put back jobs and even thanked me for the nagging. Still, I felt a bit guilty.17

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers and @ScarletRibbons xx
DS2 went to London last night - we knew there was a bus replacement for the last four train stops home and that he’d be home around 2:30am. Well either he missed it or it was cancelled as he walked those last four stops and he got in at 4:30am! Why he didn’t call us I have no idea. There will be words later as apart from the cold, he could’ve been mugged or worse. Not happy!
DH is off today and we will take down the decorations and have a general tidy up. Dinner is an easy chicken curry recipe.Hope @AlwaysAllie got away okay and that she is warm and toasty in the van.Glad you talked sense into Lionel @Gers. No point putting off the bathroom adjustments if they will make his life easier.Have a good day all and hugs to our poorly folk x

Morning all
Still very cold and frosty here in fact in blooming freezing 🥶 I will go out and feed the birds after this and defrost their water.
I have two people coming today and they have requested a walk so we will wrap up warm and go for a walk around a local peninsula hats and gloves will be needed, there is a cafe there for a hot drink afterwards to warm us up.
Dinner tonight will be a quick pizza and salad so no prep to be done really, I need to boil some eggs for my sandwiches for the rest of the week.
I start my 2 trial days tomorrow with my new chap so I hope that goes well I am a bit anxious about the personal care side of things but will just have to see if I can manage it. I hope so as it’s the ideal job for me and I can walk there in 5 minutes.
I have had another bad night so I’m sure I will be flagging later, I’m never a good sleeper but I go through stages where I’m only getting a few hours a night it’s so frustrating.
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all. Still cold and frosty but no snow overnight. These days the first thing I do in the morning is pull back the curtains to check for snow or ice!
Today I need to de ice the car and go to a supermarket as we're out of fresh veg. I seem to have a lot of events moved over from December so the next couple of weeks will be busy. Unfortunately yesterday's visit to the dentist ended up with me booking an appointment to have my cracked tooth removed next week. Not looking forward to that!
Stay warm everyone and be careful out there.15 -
Morning All
Still very cold here and snow/ice on the ground.
We should have been at a funeral today but Im still coughing for England so have sent apologies as I am really not up for it and it would have been a 4 hour round trip.
DGC should be back at school today I dont think theirs is closed. DGD enjoys the snow DGS not so much.
Gers well done on having a word with Lionel sometimes it is needed.
Ruby enjoy your walk and wrap up well
DP1 hope you manage to get some help for your DM and she accepts it.
I am hoping to finally continue with knitting a cardigan for myself. I bought the wool when we moved here nearly 2 1/2 years ago but then started other projects but as the weather is more stay in than go out now might be a good time.
Take care all hugs to all who want them, stay warm.
