Windows firewall....safe enough?

I find Comodo to be excellent, like any firewall software you have to answer queries occasionally about software accessing the internet, but that's part of it. I've never had performance issues with it and I do the odd Bittorrent downloadNorn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Another vote for comodo - have it installed on at least 5 pc's and laptops all differing specs without affecting performance.
Here is the direct website to download from - https://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/0 -
I was a fan of Comodo until the latest version failed Comodos' own Leak Test when installed on my computer.
Have you tried the Comodo leak test?
Online Armor passed no problem.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
OK ill try comodo - when i install it, do I have to disable the windows xp firewall?0

In a word "yes".
More than one firewall can cause conflicts.
Same problem if more than one anti-virus.
If you install Comodo, don't install defense+ as this becomes really annoying with it's constant nagging.
Also run Comodos own Injection Leak Test from its website

See how it fares for you.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
rememeber that if you're behind a router you don't neccessarily need a firewall at all. do the leak test and see if you need one!0

The way I understand it (and forgive me if I am wrong) is if you are on a broadband connection rather than dial-up, and use a router, this also acts as a firewall. And this has to be more effective than any software firewall, which means there is no need to download any other type of software firewall.0

A hardware router will usually allow all outgoing traffic though. Software firewalls usually have that annoying/useful "Do you want to allow xxx to connect to the internet" feature.
Depending on your router you can setup extra blocking rules for outgoing though.0 -
Thanks alot spud17 - comodo didnt pass its own CPIL tests. Online Armor is excellent - simple to use, effective and passed the CPIL tests.
THANKS ONCE AGAIN!0 -
Comodo didnt pass tests on my computer either. So i have switched to Armor as well. Thanks spud17. And i found Comodo firewall to slow down my computer a lot as well.0
