One Parking Solution - Parking Charge - Brighton Airport

Hello, would love some advice on how to approach appealing a Parking Charge. 

Notice sent on 24th Dec by One Parking Solution but only arrived 3rd Jan. 

Parked at Brighton Airport to take my son to watch the planes, was there an hour. Purchased a ticket, confirmed in my bank statement - price paid was for 2hrs. Parking Charge is for No payment/ticket. Has any had this before? Parking was purchased, how do I prove this? I no longer have the receipt as the date of parking was 19th December and car was cleaned out at Christmas!

My appeal would probably centre on the bank statement showing the price I paid and a photo of their tariff showing it matching up to the 2hr amount. I would go to the landowner with this proof first, but suspect if it went all the way to the small claims track then you'd win due to the balance of possibilities.

They'll probably say no ticket was on display but I'd then say prove it with a photo. 

Someone ALOT more knowledgeable will be along soon i am sure.

Money Saving Expert (MSE) advises keeping all parking ticket receipts and evidence (photos, correspondence) to fight unfair private parking fines or prove payment if wrongly issued a PCN, as these documents are crucial proof, especially if you paid but got a ticket, or if signs/machines were faulty, helping to dispute the charge with the company or appeal bodies. Don't discard receipts, even for small amounts, as they're key evidence if you need to prove you parked legally. 

Why keep receipts & evidence

• Proof of payment: A receipt proves you paid for parking when a machine issues a fine in error.
• Disputing unfair tickets: Evidence like photos of unclear signs, broken meters, or your car location helps challenge private parking charges.
• Mitigating circumstances: Receipts for breakdown services or witness statements support claims for legitimate parking. 

What to keep

• Receipts: Parking machine tickets, digital payment confirmations.
• Photos: Unclear signs, broken meters, your car's position, date/time.
• Correspondence: All letters/emails from the parking company.
• Witness details: Names and statements if someone saw your situation. 

If you lose your receipt

• Search thoroughly: Check your car, car park (if possible), and bin.
• Look for digital proof: Bank statements might show payment.
• Seek other evidence: Ask local businesses if they remember the incident or check for CCTV.

Is the car park owned by the airport, or is it a private car park in the vicinity of the airport?  Seek out (Google) a map of Brighton Airport depicting its boundary in which airport bylaws pertain. If the car park is located within that boundary, please mark it on the map and let us see it please.

Lesson learned re the receipt - it was a clean up the car before visiting family at Christmas type thing. 
Interestingly, I've just zoomed in on the photo they've sent of my vehicle leaving the car park, and the parking ticket is clearly seen on the dashboard still.

It's the car park in front of the airport cafe. I parked next to the ticket machine, and purchased a ticket accordingly.

Another good idea is to take pictures of receipts using your mobile phone, at the time

As you might know, it's known as 'Shoreham Airport' to locals. I know it well. For next time: there are a couple of car parks further along that roadway which are unrestricted.

Sounds like there was a typo in the VRM or a sticky keypad that missed a digit you typed.

Appeal like this:


I paid for parking and your image even shows the ticket on the dashboard as we drove out.

Whilst we no longer have the receipt from the machine, I do have my bank statement. Evidence attached.

This can only be a mistake by your system or a minor VRM keypad error so please identify the payment and cancel the PCN. If rejecting my appeal - or trying to make me pay your industry's £20 rip off - I require you to show me the exact VRM input from the machine log, and to explain why you think it wasn't a minor keying error.

Just so you are aware, I'm going through the motions of your joke 'appeal' to discover evidence of the VRM that was input and because I am a reasonable person. However, I am well aware the whole set up is futile and I will not be trying Will Hurley's non-impartial 'IAS' even if you paid me.

See you in Brighton/Worthing court where you don't have the greatest record, I understand. Or just cancel the invoice because you have evidence that I paid the full parking tariff. You have no cause of action or legitimate interest to pursue your invoice further.
