Hi,
I am a landlord, and have been paying my buildings insurance on my rental property. Can I claim this back from the leaseholder and how far back can I go to backdate it?
Thank you

Why do you think you can?Kumo_Ji said:Hi,

Does the lease make you or them responsible for buildings insurance? Is it a house or flat?
Assuming they are responsible, what makes you think they havent been buying the insurance?0 -

You probably need to clarify.- Do you mean you are a leaseholder, and you want to claim money back from the freeholder, because the freeholder has failed to arrange buildings insurance?
- Or when you say you are a landlord, do you mean you're the freeholder - and you want to claim the building insurance cost from the leaseholders. (i.e. issue service charge bills)?
- Are you talking about a house or a block of flats?
- What does the lease say about who is responsible for arranging buildings insurance?
