Non-Paying Auction winners

Hi. Appreciate Members' advice please. I've had 2 separate Auction winners submit Cancellation requests following winning 7 day Auctions. Really annoying, and the same excuse "placed bid my mistake". There seem to be 2 schools of thought on what to du. On the 1st, I just accepted and relisted, but don't believe the Buyer would get any Strike against them ?  Also added to Blocked list. I have since read I'm better letting the other one run down past the 4 days and then submit non-payment to eBay, as that should generate a Strike against Buyer, and they still can't leave Feedback. What is best course of action ? Appreciate any advice.

You are correct in that if you accept the cancellation they get off scot free, whereas if you wait the 4 days and close it as a non paying bidder then they get a strike. Most regular sellers I suspect have their seller preferences set to block serial non payers so that ultimately means buyers who mess around like this eventually find fewer and fewer sellers they can buy from.

I rarely ever use an auction format now and most of my BINS are immediate payment, and even my best offers are usually enrolled in the immediate payment scheme - so I rarely get non payers. However if I do I look at the buyer, if they look like they might be auction wrecking (ie they sell similar items) then I'd definitely wait the 4 days and frankly most of the time I wait anyway and if they query it I just say that it's OK as the system cancels the same anyway on day 4 - and leave it at that.

Many thanks soolin...I do have the Settings amended re non-payers, but think I may need to increase it. I will let the 4 days run down and at least they'll get a Strike. Hopefully should be able to relist in the interim.

I think the best you can set seller preferences to weed out non payers is 2 strikes or more in a year, that's what I've set and if i check my settings it does weed out a fair few.

I always wait the 4 days silently (it's 4 days to the minute from the auction ending) so they get the strike. I see that as being fair on other sellers 

Block them too of course.

Many thanks. So would the process be :
1) Decline Cancellation Request once we reach the 4 days...
2) Then submit non-paying Bidder...
3) Then Block them ?
