Good morning, thanks Gers.
Welcome nitrousxs.
Still bitterly cold here, it didn't get above -4° all day yesterday. It was sunny though.
We went to Morries for a few essentials, then came straight back home. Dgs had been going to come over, but called it off, it wasn't an essential journey.
We'll be having a FaceTime link up with our Australian family later, it'll be a lot warmer there of course.
Not much else going on today.
Thinking of anyone who is sad or poorly, or with relatives who aren't well.
Stay warm and safe today folks.13 -
Morning allAnother chilly morning here too brrrrrNothing planned for today except hanging some bedding on the airer upstairs and a shopping delivery this morning then DS will come up to collect his bits that he ordered and then we'll sit down to a roast lamb dinner.Keep warm and safe everyone xx13

Last night we had a beautiful sunset so I'm hoping for a dry and clear day. It's still very cold with a light frost.Yesterday I intermittently worked through the financial stuff, didn't finish, so it's waiting for me today. The trip to the tip was successful, rubbish and some recycling gone and then I took the soft plastics away too. The crisp cold air was refreshing but I didn't linger too long. I brought in more logs, vacuumed out the woodburner and then lit it before settling down. Two out of three replacement bank cards arrived so I had the 'joys' of getting them on Apple Pay which should be very easy. I came across the extra security feature of having to have them verified by the bank because of the attempted fraud. That wasn't easy and involved chat conversations with a bot and then eventually a remote human who took three hours to respond to messages. Very frustrating RBS. Result is that only one card verified and I have the other one to tackle later today. One of my door knobs fell off so I had to leave it ajar. I thought that something had sheared off so was mildly upset then I stopped an elderly neighbour who was out walking. He's the go-to guy for everything practical, engineering, woodworking and metalworking too. He kindly looked at the knob, declared it loosened not broken, put it back on and will come back with an Allen key to tighten it up. He can fix almost anything except roads, hs cottage is about a mile from me up a extremely potholed track which the PO have refused to drive on, his mail is delivered to a box in my barn.I had nothing fresh left for lunch which meant I had to take something out of the freezer and cook it. I took away the hunger with a pile of veggies as the chicken cooked. It'll be the same today, there's a lasagna lingering.Today will be a real effort with the admin and then I'll reward myself with catching up on new year TV. I'm looking forward hearing about trips to pantos, delayed Christmas visiting and better health news. Take care and keep warm. Hugs to all.13

Morning All
Brrr, very chilly this morning, -4 according to my phone. The upside was a beautiful sunset last night with clear skies and a great view of the full moon and all the twinkly stars.
We had a lovely few hours with DS1 and family (no snow thankfully), it's lovely to see all the grandchildren together. It doesn't happen very often but they all get on well (DGD at 14 chats for a while then disappears into her room). The smallest at 15 months is now toddling about and is full of fun. DGS is nearly 10 and got a box of hats for Christmas so we had a little show too!
Shame RBS are now being difficult after all this Gers, hope it's all resolved soon and well done to the chap who's fixing your door handle.
Belated Happy Birthday to the little one dp1, hope she had a great day.
Welcome nitrousxs.
Well done on the litter picking Mehefin, seems never ending sadly.
Not sure about today, really need to go out for supplies ready for starting work again tomorrow.
Take care. XX11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Grr to RBS messing you about. When I had banking problems a while back me and DF decided life must have been a lot less stressful for elderly ancestors when they kept their money under the mattress!
Another bitter start and despite sun forecast again it's not forecast to go above o deg all day. A repeat of yesterday then. I braved Sainsbobs with DS yesterday in my Michelin Man coat and boy was I glad of it - they had no heating at all in the store! Not bad for customers as we were all muffled up but the poor check out staff were actually shivering. They deserved a medal for working in those temps. This was about 10 am so I hope it was soon sorted for the rest of the day.
Well so much for getting freezer stocks down! I currently have a big pan of soup on the go and most of that will need to be frozen! And I am still wading through Thursday's gammon joint so that will be my lunch again, with the rest sliced and frozen.
I currently have a wash ongoing to be followed by the low limping along spin. I need to decide what to do about a new one.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, getting better, sad or fed up. Take care if out in the hazardous conditions out there. Stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Another clear cold start with hints of pink in the sky.Lovely visit from ex neighbours yesterday and I did a load of sewing and packing up orders in the afternoon and evening before starting to catch up with Traitors.Today will be a walk while the mud is still hard - makes for so much less paw washing! Then a foray into the van for some tidying and defrosting, I’m heading to the Cotswolds for a couple of days tomorrow- need to try out the new van in cold weather, plenty of heaters in there so it’ll be fine I’m sure. Bdog will need his pajamas (which is actually a child’s fleece lined long sleeved tshirt - he looks very cute). We’re right on the edge of a yellow snow and ice warning so hope that doesn’t arrive.Take care all especially out and about in the snow and ice!

Morning everyone
Very cold here but no snow, bright sunshine already. The moon last night was beautiful.
We had a lovely day out yesterday - lunch at a tapas restaurant little one had chosen ( how does a 7 year old have a favourite tapas restaurant?) followed by the pantomime which was very very funny.
This afternoon the birthday weekend continues with a party in a nearby village hall with 15 , I think, friends and a mobile petting zoo - she is so excited for it. Then grannys purse is firmly closed! I've gone halves with her mummy.
Thank you all so much for her birthday wishes - she wore a big birthday badge yesterday - on the first train the man with the refreshment trolley said Happy Birthday and asked if she'd like a treat. he came back with a bag with packets of cookies and other snacks, she was delighted. Then she got a free birthday drink in the restaurant, followed by another free cookie on the train home. Also lots of Happy Birthdays throughout the day.
Thanks also for the good wishes re my mam, she just seems to have gone downhill so suddenly, hopefully we'll get the meeting with the care manager this week and she'll get some more help. It was awful taking her shopping on Friday, it really upset me...everything I suggested she was just saying she wouldn't eat, in the end I filled the basket with things I know dad will eat. I took her for a coffee and she just kept saying she wanted to go home and complained about the women talking on the next table - I apologised as we left - it was all such hard work.
Right that's off my chest - thanks for listening!
AlwaysAllie I'm watching Traitors too, I haven't seen a 'normal people' one.
Best get dressed, I hope everyone has a good day today x
