Should I close some of my 12 credit cards

I would not close them all at once and do it gradually, otherwise it may look as though a number of lenders have got spooked about something.
I would ultimately close all the subprime cards with the exception of the oldest one and any which might offer perks. Also, consider how many Direct Debits you may need for the purposes of bagging current account perks. As you already have the cards, they are an easy way of generating the DDs needed.
Virgin Money will eventually cease to be when Nationwide merge the brands. It might be that it would be better to join them as a new customer (even if not for a credit card) rather than have a subprime card ported over (if that one is subprime.)0 -
Ive currently got 3 and think it's too many for me.
I'd close quite a lot of them.0
