East Midlands Airport - Rapid Pick-Up and Drop-Off

I picked up my parents at EMA Rapid Pick-Up and Drop-Off. No barriers on entry or exit and signs stating charge of £5 for 5 minutes. Their signs state you must "pay online or via phone by midnight tomorrow". I forgot and am now expecting a £100 parking charge notice from APCOA.

Would I be right to ignore any parking charge notice on the basis of two points:

1) There was no opportunity to pay onsite
2) They may get details of the car and it's keeper, but the keeper may not be the individual who was driving.

My intention is to ignore any communications and threats from APCOA who manage on behalf of EMA.

Frankly my view is that they deliberately have not provided an opportunity to pay onsite exactly so people forget and then pay a PCN, profiteering from threats and fear.

As a newbie here, I'm keen to get your views and experience.

    Definitely do not ignore

Appeal it as keeper in the same manner as Manchester Airport threads on here,  or the group thread first Gatwick,  Heathrow,  Manchester etc

No blabbing about who was driving or about what happened

Its that simple,  no need to chew it over, no views required,  simple task to appeal any Apcoa at an Airport case

    No ignoring it.

Read the Airport Drop Off Group Thread.

No link from us: just go & find it in a split second by searching the forum. It'll be cancelled this month.

Thats odd, I thought it was VCS who were the PPC at EMA, last time I went I even saw the van in the airport petrol station (they photographed my son and granddaughter getting into the car but I've not heard a thing presumably as I'd put some fuel in and we went into the shop as well).
Do VCS monitor the roads and APCOA the car parks?

VCS definitely used patrol EMA because we used to see plenty of VCS threads about EMA, LJLA,  Southend & Robin Hood airports

Apcoa do seem to monitor drop off and pick up areas at numerous airports like London and Manchester

Yes I think APCOA do the drop off zone.

VCS infest the red lines roads.
