Morning all,
A warm hello 👋 to all the new posters. Hope the op goes well and your mum makes a speedy recovery @beanilou
Thanks for the reminder about lyonnaise potatoes @Matron_Midge. I haven’t made this for ages but will keep it in mind.
WI tomorrow and I’m prepared for a big gain. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten so much rubbish and I can feel it. I’ve had bran flakes, fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, it’s a veggie omelette with pickles for lunch and likely salmon for dinner as it needs using, done as a tray bake with veg and baby potatoes.
We had a little snow last night but it’s bright, very cold and frosty so off for a walk before lunch.
Have a good day everyone!2 -
I didn't manage to post yesterday so welcome to all joiners and returners and Happy New Year to you all. Thank you so much for starting us off @beanielou especially as you must be worried about your mum. Hope all goes well and I'm sure you'll take good care of her when she stays with you.🤗
One of the great things about this thread is that you can get help and advice whenever you need so it's an excellent extra resource between group meetings.
I'm going it alone for the first time, although since getting to target about 14 years ago I've only weighed regularly every 8 weeks to keep in check and keep access to the app/website. I'm pretty confident I won't slip into old habits so I'm giving it a go.
I agree that the SW dauphinoise is likely made with quark @joedenise. As a treat, I made some over the holiday using half fat creme fraiche. The pot made 4 generous portions so not sure how that worked out for syns. I always add cheese to mine too but that's within HEA allowance.
Thanks for the reminder about lyonnaise potatoes @Matron_Midge. I like boulangere too and I haven't made those in years either.

It's easy to adapt ingredients to make SW friendly. The other thing I don't do is start with raw potatoes sliced with a mandolin. I always par boil the potatoes and then when cool, they're really easy to slice thinly enough with a knife. It also guarantees they'll be cooked through in a much shorter time.
Thanks for the heads up on the oyster sauce @bubbs. It's not something I use much myself but it's good to know any changes to syn values.
All meals yesterday were on plan. I even took a satsuma to the football!😇 I'm now down to half a bar of chocolate marzipan to finish off and some non HEA cheese. Like you @Longwalker, I keep most of my syns/swips for drinks and getting some alcohol free days in will resume on Monday. DH says he's doing Dry January. We'll see.🤔
I've got my meal plan and shopping list sorted for next week so will hit the shops this afternoon. It's cold but bright here and forecast to be all over the weekend. Take care those of you in the parts where snow is coming.🥶
Today's plan-
B- HEB toast, scrambled eggs, ham (P), tomatoes (S), HEA milk for drinks
L- JP (F), tuna (P), salad (S)
D- beef curry and rice (P,F,S)
Swips- LTL mayo 1, weekend wine😋

Just home after a very busy morning - it’s like we’ve never had a break!
Banana 1st thing and then a quick bowl of chunky HM veg soup. I’m making a lasagne this evening and serving it with a salad.
No Hex used so far so going to try using all 3 together to make a very cheesey sauce/topping. Swips in plain flour and a dob of butter for the roux. Nothing else planned, got to get back on plan but I have some Lindt wafers that are 83 cals (4) each to eat up so may indulge n one this evening with traitors

Afternoon all 😁
Jwil, thank you but i am a simple eater really, i am a big eater at meal times but very rarely snack, although i am sitting her and my belly is rumbling 🤣 that's because of all the added treats over Christmas.
Good luck tomorrow, wouldn't it be funny if we are posting here anonymous and we went same group 🤣 and you Jelly although she is in Scotland so know we don't!
Maman it does annoy me about the changes like that suddenly it's gained syns sitting in my cupboard!
We didn't have snow but just spoke to Mum and she said she had some when she got up and it's not cleared, least she is being sensible and not going out the door! I am not even going to put the rubbish out she said, i said that can wait, not like she is going to have a lorry load is it? 🤣

Saying about bins @bubbs, we had a letter today to say they'll soon be introducing food waste caddies. DH said they won't be getting much from here then! 🤣
More seriously, it will be good to recycle /compost peelings etc. 👍
Good bargains in Aldi today. I was there at the right time for between 30-75% off various meats and they had jars of 'Christmas' sage at 29p and lazy garlic reduced to 49p.
I had cottage cheese with my JP for lunch so saved 1 whole Swip! 🤣1 -
Thank you Bubbs
It would be funny if people from the same groups were on here. I'm down in the SW though. "Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
That's something I really enjoy about this thread. Because we live all over the country, we get accurate daily weather conditions and the chances of putting washing out! 🤣1
