Have just finished dinner of steak, AF potatoes, baked mushroom (plain), baked vine tomatoes and peas. Family had oven chips and I filled their mushrooms with Boursin untouched from
Christmas. TBH I’m not a steak person but this was really tasty.Have realised that my downfall is boredom from eating same old same old. This in part is due to only really shopping once weekly in Aldi which is mums SM of choice and mine too, all those months when DH wasn’t working and I wasn’t even earning enough to pay our huge mortgage. Things are different now and the pressure is off somewhat, so I’m going to go to Sainsbobs this week (mum only shops fortnightly) which I’m hoping will see some YS items too - never any in Aldi apart from bread.Raining here and bitterly cold. Hope you manage to get off the site tomorrow @bubbs - sounds like you’re busy as always!Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 1/26 Currently reading The Trial by Rob Rinder0 -

Morning allHope all you that are on weather warnings are safeUs here in NI only have one for possible snow and ice , which I dont think amounted to much thankfully . Yesterday was weird, when I left for work at 5:30 am, car and roads clear. When I finished work @ 10am, car and roads frozen solid and then came the fogMy eating this week has been very disordered, , just not getting back into the mindset. Well I am, in my head, but the reality is there is so much junk still lying around and its making its way to my tummy somehowHeads up, although it may just be LidlNI, but their frozen veg is all 3 for £3 and their frozen berries are on the XXL , so if you have freezer space it may be worth a wee tripI have weigh in tomorrow and it looks like I will be coughing up a fee. Still I looked back in all my old books and Ive been in the same boat every January - out of target and struggling to get back.I listened to the news yesterday about the WLI studies which suggest those that come off will regain faster than those who stop dieting. Im like no !!!!!! Sherlock. Surely the only way to maintain is to keep working on eating healthily and keep exercising? To accept that a diet of high fat/sugar processed foods is just not sustainable and those foods have to be consumed as treats and not as a lifestyleThen I also read a bit on BBC news that Tesco have announced their biggest growth this past year, has been for fresh fruit and veg . Maybe the tide is finally turning and the SW trolley will be the norm moving forwards and the aisles of crisps and biscuits will be reduced to make room for more fresh foods. My Tesco, there's half the shop I dont walk down because its all snack type foods , they have more shelf space for instant noodles then they do for tinned or dried beansAnyways Im away to work. Stay safe everyone xx0

Morning all - hope everyone is doing okay after last nights storm. We have rain but escaped the brunt of it thankfully.I too read the article about the WLI @Longwalker - I don’t understand how people think the injections will change their mindset. If you’re a food addict you need psychology to change the mindset as well as putting less in your mouth. It’s like expecting a crack addict to not crave crack - just bonkers.Did anyone see the programme on C4 last night about Type II diabetes, depression and chronic pain. Talking about ditching medication and changing lifestyle and mindset instead. Very interesting if you can catch it especially about fasting period.I’m WFH today, possibly just a few hours but it all helps. DH says they need a cleaner at the primary school two hours a day - tempted but would tie me in (although DH is caretaker so would be there too) plus not sure what I might come across 🤮 Body Magic though!!Food today:
B - toasted protein bagel, poached egg, spinach, AF bacon - HEB, P, S
L - orzo pot - orzo, red onion, sun dried tomatoes, feta, red wine vinegar, apple - Free, S, HEA, 3
D - grilled salmon, tenderstem broccoli, mini sweetcorn - P, S
HEA - milk
Syns - skinny bar - 3.5 plus 3 = 6.5 totalCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 1/26 Currently reading The Trial by Rob Rinder0 -
Morning all, wet and windy here but at least there's no snow. Hope everyone is safe especially those who got the Government alarm yesterday.
I didn't see that programme @Coxy11 but sounds interesting, will try to see if I can see it on catch up. I've watched the 1970s Diet programme on 5 over the last couple of nights and it certainly shows how things have changed since then! Mainly the portion sizes (and plate sizes) and all the snacking and food places available now compared to back then. I was bringing up my girls in the 70s and remember so much of it especially how much fat and sugar we used to eat! We'd have mince and onion pie every week, deep fried chips and usually a pudding 2 or 3 nights a week! Yet amazingly we all stayed slim and healthy weight. When I married I weighed all of 6 st 7lb! Definitely nowhere near that now and quite honestly don't want to go back there either! I must have looked scrawny!
Hope you're able to get up to the Unit @bubbs and get your orders sorted so you can keep earning! I suspect a lot of people cut back for Christmas so that they'd have money for the January sales. I know years ago I often did that and just buy someone something small with an IOU for something else. Obviously not for kids in the family but adults understood they'd get more if I got them something later! We just don't do presents any more and makes life less stressful! I hated having to think about what to get everyone.
Anyway it was WI for me this morning and I've lost just over another 2lb (2.2lb) so I'm pleased with that. Still just over 3lb to get back to top end of target. I'm sure it's partly because I'm not drinking at the moment - decided to try and do Dry January! Not sure I'll make it to the end of the month but will give it a good try!
Today's plan:
B - Spanish omlette - P; S; F
L - chicken fajitas - HEB; P; S; 3
D - fish pasta bake, green veg - HEA2; P; S; F; 3.5
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - wrap
Swips: sweet chilli sauce 3; cheese sauce mix 3.5
Have a good day everyone.

Great loss @joedenise 👏
I didn’t catch the 1970’s programme but agree about plate sizes. We had a lovely bone china dinner service for our wedding 29 years ago which only comes out at Christmas! Could just about fit the Christmas dinner on them especially with DH’s turkey slabs he cut!! We used to have burgers weekly in the 70’s and sausages a lot (Mum was no cook) but always a roast on a Sunday. Strangely Mum does not stop going on about food these days and what she’s cooked for herself. I guess at least she still has the inclination at 83!!Hope you can get out and about today @bubbs but take it slow xxCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 1/26 Currently reading The Trial by Rob Rinder0 -
End of a mad busy week here. Snow not as bad as forecast and no issues getting anywhere as roads had been gritted.
food has been good this week but tonight we are having scampi, Sw chips, garden peas and tartare sauce. No other swips consumed and no alcohol passing my lips so all should be ok for Monday weigh in. I have no idea of swips but I know it was a quick meal we used to eat when I was a fully paid up SW member as long as I didn’t have anything other than HE’s and free/speed food.Stay warm everyone and I’ll check in when I can0 -

Evening all 😁
Weather was ok, we had ALOT of rain last night after the snow, so rds were ok, went unit, orders done!
Denise well done 👏👏
We watched that programme this week, interesting se=he never lost any weight though. We always had meat and veg, casseroles, cottage pie , liver and onions, stew, toad in the hole etc, never ever had a take out, pasta or rice, We always had a pudding, suppose because it filled you up and Mum was cooking for 9. We always had a roast Sunday, Mum cooked it down Pap's but we ate at Pap's as well . We always had it down there Sunday, BH and Christmas, Mon-Fri he and Barry (uncle) came to ours for dinner.
Mum and Dad were VERY hard up as well, but we always had "proper" food. and veg were always in a dish on the table, meat and potato were put on your plate, you helped yourselves to veg and gravy.
Food today
4 ryvita crackers with cheese spread , ham and beetroot, half hexa and b , Watermelonn
Fake kfc , salad and beans

Same here @bubbs , we ate very "poorly " Our usual menu was beef on Sunday - pie made with left overs on Monday , then there would be ham ( bought of the deli counter or from a tin ) and eggs - maybe turned into a pie ( quiche was a new fangled " foreign " thing, liver and bacon, sausage and mash, scotch eggs , faggots ( I loved those ) braised lambs hearts, roasted Ox heart , mince , chicken curry made from thighs , pork steaks , lamb belly, - cheap cuts, usually cooked in the big old domed pressure cooker.Puddings were rice - to use up milk or tapioca . Mostly it wast tinned fruit and carnation milk - they Viennetta was invented - happy days. But the thing about that, we were a family of five - yet 6 portions were cut from it and not a sinner felt they were short changed. If I was serving that now for 5 or 6 people, Id be looking to buy two , even possibly 30

Quick post to confirm that I am, as I thought exactly half a stone over target. ☹️ It will come off, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Well done on your loss @joedenise. 👏👏👏 You're doing brilliantly. 👍1
