Who are IBERDROLA GROUP, Ariba & SAP Business Network??

Our house has Solar panels which were installed back in 2011. Scottish Power pay our FIT payments.
We have received some unsolicited emails recently from an account called "Ariba Administrator" saying we should,

"....register as a supplier on SAP Business Network. In order to manage collaboration processes, participate in tenders, access orders, invoices, payments, and update your supplier details, your company must be registered on this platform. As of today, your company's registration has not been completed."

We have no idea what SAP Business Network is.
We have replied to the effect that we are a private individual, not a company but had no response, except more email, effectively saying the same as the first. The IBERDROLA GROUP website reveals the Scottish Power is a member but attempting to login with our SP details doesn't work.

Our only concern is that the FIT payments continue uninterrupted.

Can anyone off us advice on what (if any) action we should take?

There were a few posts a couple of years ago where people trying to register for Scottish Power FIT and SEG payments were having to register on an Iberdrola system.
    See eg.
If you have an email for SP's FIT team, I'd suggest dropping them a note and asking if there's anything you need to do.

  • Iberdrola is a Spanish electricity provider which has owned Scottish Power for some considerable time.
  • SAP is accounting software used by companies which does have supplier links on there.

I can't comment on whether it is relevent to you, but just saying it's a system

It seems that was me, in 2022!!! I had forgotten posting here  :open_mouth:

I've uncovered a few details that I noted down during my efforts to deal with the confusion at the time.
I have a supplier number, a user number and a password but none of these, plus neither of the two email addresses I might have used enables me to login to an existing account.

I suppose I might be reassured that my FIT payments have continued uninterrupted since then might mean I can ignore this fresh nonsense?

"SAP Business Network is a B2B collaboration platform that enables companies to discover trading partners, share information and documentation, execute transactions, and build stronger supply chains"

SAP is a standard accounting management system used by many orgs in the UK and overseas to monitor contracts and suppliers / invoicing etc.

Many large orgs run their own in house tools based on it - a search for SAP Business Network - came up with the above link - and in the headline talks about B2B - which I read as the standard short for "business to business"

SAP Ariba is also mentioned in the FAQ here - and on several other links from top page - under all products.

Their is a risk if not registered you might be missing payments - but theres also a chance that only business level FIT installations - not individual domestic - had to register - the B2B bit could be key.

Talk to SP and see what they say.

But if you felt compelled to register before - you shouldnt necessarily ignore.

In Spain there is a surprisingly convincing epidemic of people trying to persuade customers to change perfectly adequate contracts. Trust nobody who contacts you even though they have your details.

Presumably the "Spanish" scammers are attempting to obtain your credit card details and then clone the card.
