Only through talking it through, mind! I'mlearning :).

    I would summarise as this:

In the context of replacing (whilst improving on) my current setup, like-for-like (in terms of outlets):

    ---------------------------
    Two options:

    1) 2-way thermostatic valve (controlling the two shower units (handheld + rainfall))
    Pros:
    - Potentially less complex to install (and possibly) maintain (although, not sure how true this is)
    - Offers a fail-safe bathing option by way of baths, if the 2-way valve conks out
    - Aesthetically (albeit subjectively) more pleasing on the eyes (less fiddly)
    Cons:
    - Still need to reach around the shower screen to turn faucet off/on (based on outlets in the same positions)

    2) 3-way thermostatic valve (controlling the two shower units (handheld + rainfall) + bath faucet)
    Pros:
    - Adjust all outlets from one control
    - No more reaching around the shower screen to access facuet (or anything else)
    Cons:
    - Slightly more fiddly to adjust
    - Single point of failure if the valve goes, then no more ashing until it is fixed
    - Potentially more complex to install (and possibly) maintain (although, not sure how true this is)

    ---------------------------

So, based on the volume of pros vs cons, the 2-way valve setup has the win.

Any last miute naysayers, speak now!

Also, per my other question - if you had to splurge on the valve vs the outlets (taps, showers etc), which would you choose? Assume they can be diff brands?

    Good summation.
And the correct choice is - what you want.
It strikes me that a 3-way system is going to be complex. But prove me wrong - link to one :-)
