Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, stay wrapped up!
It's very cold this morning with a lovely white frost, the sun is just about to rise over the hills. I've put some food out for the birds - there's a little robin comes right up to the back door looking for food. I've also seen Mr and Mrs Blackbird checking out the stale fruit loaf!
Sorry to hear you're poorly Coxy, hope the meds do their job swiftly.
Glad your difficult conversation was ok taff.
What a worry dp1, hope you can get some help for your Mum and Dad.
Sounds a bit busy for me Mehefin. Well done on doing the beach cleans.
Allie - I picked up a coupld of gifts for next year too!
Hugs to those not feeling too good.
It's Panto day in Glasgow today (Oh yes it is!), I bought tickets as part of DD and family's Christmas present and am looking forward to it. I'll drive to the station they will leave from and we'll catch the train together, can't be doing with driving into Glasgow today. I would get the train from here but this part of the line is closed for another week or so as a new bridge is being put in.
My microwave was making a horrible squeak, thought I would have to get another but I've just given it a good scrub and it's stopped it's horrible noise! Decorations and tree were taken down yesterday so the living room had a good clean - feeling very smug!
Have a good day, take care. XX11 -

Hello, it's a bit brighter here today. The dw is on but I'm not anticipating doing much else today as I think I overstretched myself yesterday cleaning and tidying, I'll never learn. There wasn't much groaning from Mr Fix It last night or perhaps I slept so heavily that I didn't hear it, but he's still got a lovely shiner !
Dad was a bit more forthcoming with his conversation yesterday, maybe he's realised that we are the only ones who can help him.... until the next time he gets a bee in his bonnet.
Have a good day everyone, hugs to the poorly, sad or lonely ones.

Hi everyone,
Ironically, after yesterday's post I@m now posting in the morning, probably because Steve is golfing this morning!
dp1, I'm so sorry you have the worry of trying to get help for your mum and dad. Both my parents were unaffected by any sort of dementia but dad still stubbornly refused to have any sort of help in the house even though they were both pretty infirm in their final few years. He couldn't bear the thought of aging and dying but poor mum had to try to keep up with the housework and cooking.
Get better soon Coxy and Chrisca.
We finally got an airfryer before Christmas. I'd been resisting because I didn't want another appliance on the worksurface, however L and B got a combined microwave airfryer and we've been quite impressed by it so we replaced our current microwave. We're still getting used to it - a few cremated pastries have resulted but hopefully it will save us some money in the long run.
I need to decide on a meal for tonight. We finished off the last of the turkey last night, having it with chips and peas, a real blast from the past because that was always boxing day dinner at my parents. Laura and Chris still talk about it nostalgically today. Goodness knows what my parents would have thought about our go to boxing day meal of turkey biriani with coconut daal, I don't think they ever ate rice unless it was in a pudding.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning all
Beautiful sunny day here with a good breeze - perfect for drying the washing but blooming cold 🥶 I have one load about to finish and another to go in they should dry well today.
Another day of not doing much I am really enjoying these days between Christmas and New Year it’s a good time to recharge and I will be back to work next week so am making the most of it.
I sent my contract over to my new chap yesterday with the help of chatgpt what an amazing tool it can literally help with anything, I am starting with him next Wed / Thursday for two trial days and then assuming we all get along with be the same days weekly.
Dinner tonight will be sausage chips and beans nice and easy, dd did a sleep in so will be home later this afternoon, I also need to hoover and mop downstairs. I have ordered the bits we need for the utility apart from the skirting boards which OH will pick up, they are all due to arrive next week and then OH can start the work.
DP1 sorry to hear about your mum it’s very difficult for all involved xx
Camelot enjoy the panto xx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Afternoon everyone, thanks @Gers for starting us off and thanks also to @-taff for the song that brings back childhood memories of Brenda Lee. I may be being thick but what does BBL mean please?
@dp1 - Not the kind of phone call you want on Boxing Day, well done to the carer and the paramedics for their concern and help. I hope your mam and dad get the help they need although it sounds as if mam will take some convincing!
@snoozer - Anytime is a good time to post - I check for yesterday's latecomers when I have my first cuppa of the day, by the time my brain is functioning enough to do my own post I'm usually one of them!
It's not quite as dull out today but tomorrow looks more promising for a glimpse of the sun so that's when I'll go for milk etc. Like @TA, I'm feeling the urge to go out but it will only be if/when I need something.
I'm leaving my decorations up until next Monday, all to be kept for next year since I pruned the excess ones at the beginning of this year. I had a pea & mushroom pasta for tea yesterday and tonight I'll use up the last of the Xmas chicken for a curry with rice. @snoozer - My parents only ever had rice in a pudding too and I can still hear my late DF saying he didn't want any of 'that foreign muck' - meaning curry, pasta etc or anything that wasn't meat, potatoes & veg.
He would have been 103 yesterday so I suppose it's a generational thing.
Ah well, time to make a move. The dead flowers need binning, I've still to clean the shower and put out the rubbish that's due for collection tomorrow (I think). Whatever you're doing today (panto, bargain hunting, prepping for NY etc or just chilling) have a good one. Gentle hugs for the poorly, sad and lonely. Take care. XXBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Hello all, newbie here.
I am spending the day at a hospital a few hours from the Shire as a relative is having day surgery. I have my mini ecoflow battery, a mini kettle, tea, water, milk and lunch. Parking is free too. No need for take away drinks!
Nice to 'meet' you all.

Afternoon all
Dry, but chilly here. I've got a lamb stew sitting on top of the wood burner for tonight. I'm fed up of cooking so that is a chuck it all in and leave it.
Today I must sort out my presents, I was very lucky and have enough toiletries to open a shop. Still I won't have to buy any for a long time. My mission this year is to spend less as there's a few things that need doing. Just got to get DH on board.
ShelivesintheShire, nice to meet you, hope all goes well today.
Dp1, I'm so sorry to hear about your parents, such a hard time.
Coxy and Chrisca, hope you feel better soon.
Sorry if I've forgotten anyone, have a good day.

Thanks everyone for the warm re-welcome

Welcome @ShelivesintheShire we can be newbies together, I'm really impressed by your planning, I'm working on my organisational skills this coming year, I'm not naturally blessed in this way but I feel it will help in many ways with money saving.
@snoozer I always have a cup of herbal tea before bed and love to read through posts as I settle down, kind of like a bed time story, plus I can't always get online in the morning myself, so posts at any time of the day are my kind of a thing.
I'm having a day when I can't get going, so I'm aiming for simple goals, a bit of decluttering this afternoon plus clearing the ironing basket before New Year.......9
