Home insurance carried out work without my consent

Hi, I'm just wondering what you guys think about this. I contacted my home insurance because my rainwater pipes had tree root ingress and some of the pipe was damaged. The insurance contractor carried out CCTV of all the drains and said they would clear the blockage and repair the pipe.
Two weeks later they returned and I found the drainage engineer lining my cloakroom toilet pipe and when I asked what he was doing he said the CCTV had picked up a gap between the pipe and the wall of the house so he'd been told to line it.
The work was then carried out to the rainwater pipe.
Should I complain or would it have been cheaper to fix the toilet pipe through the insurance anyway?
Thanks

Assuming the cctv work, root clearance and repair cost more than your excess, this was essentially a free fix. It may impact your premium very slightly if the overall claim cost is higher, but that should be negligible compared to a second visit to get the lining issue fixed at your own cost1
