Great bargain @PipneyJane ! And @Laura_Elsewhere , that's interesting about the various portrayals of Miss M. I often wonder why 'they' do remakes of classics when there's a perfectly good one around already, and what's more, that perfectly good one is the definitive version for all who've seen it, and couldn't 'they' spend their money on something better?
As for the modern themes plastered all over newer portrayals of older books - if it had really been like that in those days, that would be reflected in the original. I really genuinely prefer my historical insight not to obscured by the lens of modern mores, however I feel about those issues as lived out in modern life.
(Sorry, was that your soap box? Thanks for letting me use it. 😊)

Pip that's most gratifying
Back in the early noughties when the Beeb/ITV were trying to be more diverse they used to change crime plots so it was always the lesbian wot done it and think they's ticked a box!
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!8 -
Morning All
How is everyone. I have yet another cold. This one started on Saturday with swollen tonsils, hit my nose on Tuesday night and is now in the phlegm stage. Most annoying, especially as it’s ANZAC Day on Saturday and I’m meant to be at the Cenotaph and Westminster Abbey. Haven’t figured out what I’ll be wearing yet, but it’s got to have a lot of pockets for tissues. (@Laura_Elsewhere I’ve just had my morning swig of elderberry syrup. Nearly finished the bottle. Must buy another.)
Enough of me moaning. Anyone up for a game? How about a round of “Today, I will mostly be wearing…”?
Today, I will mostly be wearing 4-year-old black jeans, a beige tee-shirt bought in a charity shop, and my college fleece that is at least 23 years old. What about you?

Today I'll mostly be wearing my 'indoor trousers'*, a tshirt that is at least ten years old and trainers that are now indoor as well as they are no longer terribly supportive for outdoor activities but are much more comfy and supportive than my slippers for the house and are slowly being worn out this way
Dxx
*Indoor trousers are 3 pairs of loose cotton trousers in wild patterns that are comfy but neither flattering nor fit for company any longer 😆 🤣

Today I will mostly be (have been) wearing jeans, a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt and a cosy snuggly green cardigan which is never worn outside the house. All are from charity shops. I’m also wearing my Moshulu slippers which are very comfortable and accommodate my orthotic insoles.

today I was mostly wearing my second-hand navy blue M&S moleskin trousers, with a short-sleeved blue linen shirt that is a dozen years old, socks I knitted, and chestnut leather brogues that are older than I am (I'm in my late fifties…).
Later on, indoors, I was wearing the above, but with my new dark brown leather lace-ups- women's RAF uniform shoes, "lightly used" but I'm not sure they have ever been worn. £19.99 from eBay, inc free postage :)
Once I have worn them in, I expect they will be worn a lot :)
The newest thing I wore today was the socks, knitted last year from wool bought four years ago.
The oldest thing I wore today were my old Church's brogues from the early 1960s.2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Today I mostly wore (am in bed now) my 3/4 year old brown trousers from uniqlo that are way too loose now but which I cannot find a replacement for of the same quality in any shop I would normally go to, a grey and burgundy striped top that I bought second hand but which has a label saying 'store twenty one' (???), a brown nike sports bra and a pink duvet style coat my stepmother bought me which is totally not my usual style but which has grown on me. And red moulded mary janes.

Yesterday over my warm cotton undies, I wore grey denim trousers from George, with an English leather belt from the market, thick socks, and lace up, soft leather shoes bought in the sales three years ago. I wore a knitted-cotton long sleeved top and a blue cotton jumper, a blue quilted waistcoat which would all have been bought in the sales at Tu, and a navy blue cotton sunhat. Most of them are years old, the trousers bought before the pandemic, the jumper more than 20 years, it went too tight but fits again now.
I went to the bank to put all that I could into savings, went to the market and to the library, and then sat in the park in the Spring sunshine with my flask of tea. I watched a few people enjoying a game of bowls.
I saw two young women who seemed to be wearing striped, thin pyjamas in town though it was afternoon. I wondered if they had lost everything and were heading for the WVS emergency clothing centre.
When I got home, the washing hung out in the garden was all dry, ready to fold neatly into the basket and put away. There is very little which needs ironing, just a few cotton tea towels, table napkins and hankies. I iron linen when it is still damp then hang it to air.
We went to play in the old lecture room in the evening. A group of very talented amateurs keeping up our spirits with a romantic comedy, called Lucky Me, about a very accident prone woman. We had a mug of tea at the interval.

Today I am wearing... My oldest Craghoppers trousers, an ancient t shirt, very old trainers which have very little tread left on the soles, but they're comfy!, soft top short flowery socks, and M&S underwear… top half about 4 years old, new bottoms!
The t shirt is at least 10 years old, but I'm sad to see there's a hole under the arm 😥 I have many photos of me wearing it at Friar's Crag in Keswick over the years.
Today I went down to church with my hubby to do the cleaning before lunch, (we have a Rota where each team does 4 weeks) then some washing and ironing pm.
Remembering ANZAC Day, @PipneyJane and all those lads and lasses who didn't go home. 😔

Thank you for remembering ANZAC Day @MrsCD. I was at Westminster Abbey today with DH and one of my oldest friends, whose mum and aunt served in the WAAAF with my mum. Ironic, really, since we didn’t know until years after both our mums had passed away. We go every year. I usually wear his mum’s medals, while he wears his dad’s.
We arrived early - skipped the Cenotaph - so secured front row seats in the Nave. Duty Royal was the Princess of Wales, who was beautifully dressed in a fitted, navy blue coat with white trim on the collar and lapel. She made a little girl’s day, by stopping to say “Hello” after the service.
Clothes-wise, I wore my 1930’s-style, grey herringbone tweed, Hobbs suit. It has a short, fitted jacket with a long, calf-length, flutter skirt. I think I’ve owned it for 20 years. I will be gutted if/when it wears out. Totally forgot to wear my hat! I have the perfect, 1930’s style, black, felt hat; just didn’t remember until I got off the train. Fortunately, most of the women present were bare headed, so I didn’t stand out.
