Sump removal?

It's good to watch the videos of wet belts being replaced. My Vivaro 2013 has a chain, has just past 80k miles, so not due yet.
Is it a good idea to remove the sump on all vehicles in order to inspect things, as they do in the videos. Is it standard to move the sump on wet belts, is it simple?

If there's no reason to suspect there's junk in there, why bother? If the oil's been changed on time historically, if a wet belt is in good condition, then...
On some cars, there's various bits need removing - perhaps even a driveshaft - in order to remove the sump.0 -

It is relatively simple on the Puretech 1.2 to remove the sump - so long as you use the correct technique. If you don't, there is a good chance you'll bend it (because its quite thin metal) and it will leak once refitted.0

It’s definitely useful to watch those videos, but dropping the sump isn’t something that’s done as a routine check on most vehicles. On wet belt engines it’s more common because debris can collect in the sump and block the oil pickup. If your Vivaro has a chain and is running fine at 80k, there’s usually no need to remove the sump unless there are symptoms or you’re doing other major work.

I think I would drain the oil. Get on of those endoscopic gadgets.

Poke it through the sump drain, A Risk of £21.
Get a good look around, might even be able to spray carb cleaner at the oil sump filter to clean it, if needed.
Sump removal and replacement is not the easiest job in the world.0
