Argos cancelled our order

We have ordered an item from Argos at reduced price in sale. Argos accepted our order and we were told that item will be ready for collection on 28/12/25. But yesterday we got an email saying that they cancelled our order as there was an issues on their side and they said they have refunded us and asking us to reorder if item is still available. We have noted that item is still available but the price is now extra £10 on what we paid. Just wondering can they do this?

Probably yes they can. As a gesture or goodwill they could let you have it at the discounted price so worth asking (politely).

Contact them to complain, the *may* let you repurchase at the discounted price. Anything more than that will take far more effort than a £10 discount would be worth.mrseyes said:We have ordered an item from Argos at reduced price in sale. Argos have history doing this. In 1999 and 2005 they had a TV “offer” and all orders were cancelled on the basis no contract had been formed

That might be an incorrect comparison.MDMD said:Argos have history doing this. In 1999 and 2005 they had a TV “offer” and all orders were cancelled on the basis no contract had been formed

The 49p TV was never an offer but a clear and obvious mistake and therefore cancelled under the rules for Unilateral Mistake.
The OP's £10 off something might not have been the same. I note the OP has not said what the item was that they ordered with the £10 off. Hence, we cannot comment on whether that should have been an obvious mistake. It does make a difference.
Perhaps the OP can tell us what they purchased, what they paid, and the normal price for the item?1 -
Their lawyers wrote the T&Cs, which you no doubt studied carefully before agreeing to them, so the chances are that this situation was covered, and you don’t have a legal leg to stand on.Besides that, you probably wouldn’t issue proceedings over £10, even if you had a wonderful case.
So, the question is whether you want to beg customer services to give you £10?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
There's probably a 'while stocks last' or similar in the Ts & Cs but it's surprising how things magically come back into stock when the offer ends. 🤔3

Not even remotely the same situation.MDMD said:Argos have history doing this. In 1999 and 2005 they had a TV “offer” and all orders were cancelled on the basis no contract had been formed
