I am feeling very smug. I cut 2 large steaks off of the end of my beef roasting joint and have made 2 beef wellingtons using a cross between Jamie Oliver and Mary Berry's recipes. I mixed the chicken pate with finely chopped onions and mushrooms and spread over the seared beef steaks. A little bit of seasoning and some home made pastry from store cupboard stuff and my first 2 meals for both of us from the £9.65 price of beef have been made. They have been put into freezer for when we get back from our hols in Feb. I want our first week back to be planned from the freezer. After we have had roast beef tonight I will see what else I can get out of it. There is just over 1lb of meat left.

Can I come back please? I did this earlier in the year until ill health took over. I'm still not out of the woods but getting there.
I would like to set my challenge at £3600 for the year.
I tried £300 per month but I think a yearly budget will suit me better. Thank you Jings for taking on looking after us all.13 -
@remmie, it does focus the mind to realise how much the cost of bit of shopping every week adds up to in a year. I have added it to my budget header.9

Happy New Year GCers!
Starting 2026 with a refund of £3.87 as I’ve paused milk deliveries for January. I signed up for sustainability reasons a few years ago but recently finding that the milk only lasts a day before going sour. Not sure yet if I’ll cancel fully, will ask round locally and see if anyone else has had issues.Off work today so meal planning and hopefully a no spend day.10
