I have a pod machine, I only use aluminium capsules and then recycle the capsules after emptying/squashing them.itsthelittlethings said:

Pretty eco friendly.
I think the "eco plastic" pods like the ones offered by Grind are greenwashing. Whilst they may break down, I think they still create micro plastics - this is why I don't buy any pods which aren't aluminium, which I can recycle fairly easily.
Edit: I think it's only the OP who is worried about the eco nature of the bags. I presume the user is less bothered, but wants to make coffee (not instant, which is probably the most environmentally friendly method) in a way that's easy for them.0 -
The Taylors coffee bags are nice. Can't remember how recyclable they are although someone else here seems to think they are.
I was going to suggest going to a health food store - they tend to do more eco friendly stuff in general.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. M&S Jump Start--the box and coffee bags can be recycled but the sachet cannot.0

I use Presto coffee bags: https://prestocoffee.com/collections/coffee-bags
The bags themselves are compostable at home and the soft plastic packets are recyclable at your grocery store. Each time you visit your relative, you can take their soft plastic recycling for them. We tend to build up our soft plastics over the course of a month and then drop them off at M & S or Tesco. Soft plastics = hummus lids, strawberry punnet lids, vegetable packaging bags, toilet paper packaging, etc.2 -
I use single coffee bags for work, from "The Little Coffee Bag Company", and I’ve got the same issue. They come in a heavy duty outer bag that’s difficult to open. I haven’t found anything better though, and the coffee is easily the best I’ve had in a coffee bag.

I use the Taylor Hot Lava Java coffee bags and the packaging says the coffee bag is compostable. The only thing that isn't is the wrapper the bag comes in.I used to use coffee pods, but it was a faff getting the coffee out.Another possibility is a smallish caffetiere which would use ground coffee so it could be emptied into any compost bin?0

I just let the coffee settle after a few minutes its sinks, never had any problems and no extra shopping0

I buy coffee bags on amazon from some of thr smapler producers. They are not individually wrapped, they arrive in one big resealable bag.0

Thanks all for the ideas! Think will stick with Taylor’s if now recyclable outer bags although the rave ones look good when back in stock too!0

Morrisons have Taylors bags of 10 at Two for £5,50 at the moment, that would give the opportunity to try different blends.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke0
