I saw an article on the news about the Victorian shoes MEHEFIN. Strange how they are getting washed up after all these years! x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11

Good morning to the early starters and anyone else to follow. Thanks for starting us off today @Gers, pleased to hear you're on the mend and will be back in your own bed tonight. It's a sunny but cold and frosty start to the day here so your choice of carol @-taff is rather apt! Not that we have anyone here out gathering winter fuel!
Yesterday felt rather odd on my own but the peace and quiet was enjoyable, not to mention an excellent Xmas dinner, even though I say it myself.
I spread the courses out over the day rather than have it in one sitting and didn't even get around to the cheese board. There are the usual leftovers that will form the basis of today's pick 'n mix buffet so I have another lazy day to enjoy. My NDN has gifted me a beautiful potted orchid as a thank you for taking in her parcels over the year - I hope I don't kill it off!
DS phoned from Brazil, apparently there they have their main festivities on Xmas Eve where they had a help-yourself buffet rather than a sit down meal. They had catered for 12 but, with what he said felt like the whole street popping in and out throughout the day, there were far more people there than expected so, no left overs! His culinary contribution was a large tray of roast potatoes (not something they usually eat) that went down a treat, with requests for instructions on how to do them.
@SO - So sorry your day wasn't a good one. X
@mehefin - Glad you've cleared the air and hope your neighbour is OK.
Right, brunch is calling (bacon sandwich) so I'll wish everyone a happy Boxing Day. Hugs where needed and get well soon wishes for the poorly ones. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning all@{{hugs]] to you @silver-oldieI also saw the news about all those Victorian shoes washed up onto the beach. Be interesting to see if they find the wreck they came fromHad a lovely day at DS's yesterday. Big dog was in disgrace when he got a cooling leg of lamb on the floor after dinner and started having a nice meal. DS sent him outside in disgrace for a while. He's never done that before as he's well trained so the temptation must have just got to him! Ended up playing cards and got home a bit later than normal so I managed a lie in this morning. Result!Hope everyone has a nice peaceful day xx12

Morning all
Dry and bright here but very cold, we had a very low key day yesterday, dd was working till 3 so I had dinner ready for when she got in, we then opened presents and we were all thoroughly spoilt, I got a new Apple Watch from OH after I wore mine in the sea in Greece and despite them saying they are waterproof they are not! DD got me a new tablet as the one I use upstairs is a bit rubbish and the battery only lasts an hour or so. We were all very pleased with what we got, we then watched a bit of tv - call the midwife etc and had cheese and biscuits for a late supper, a very enjoyable day although we missed seeing the rest of the family. I did make the in-laws a Christmas meal and OH took it round which they loved.
Today will be much the same, I still don’t feel right and I still have an upset tummy, so a day at home, dinner will be cold meat, mash, peas and pickles one of my favourite meals over Christmas. And there are loads of picky bits to finish off.
I think we might watch a film this afternoon while OH takes the dogs out.
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
@carolbee - Yes, I gather that's the case, it was around 9.30 am (their time) when DS rang yesterday which is late for him - and he was first up! The lifestyle there certainly seems a lot more laid back than ours, that's for sure.Be kind to others and to yourself too.11

Afternoon all, DS2 and the DGC have just left, chaos reigned during their present unwrapping
We all had turkey sandwiches before they left but we'll see them in a couple of hours as we're going to the match, also meet up with DB2 and co. Lots of leftover roasties/veg so we'll probably have a repeat of yesterday- I tend to enjoy it more as I;'m not running around like a headless chicken :}Glad you had an apology Mehefin.Hugs for you Silver-oldie.Brazil sounds interesting YL and CBee.Right better get going again,take care:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
