Currys lost one of my daughters’ Black Friday tablets: no email contact, no solution, me chasing

They have a "reasonable" timeframe to deliver it. That seems to be considered to be about a month or so.Vitor said:At this stage the sensible next step is:Write a formal complaint stating failure to deliver under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Curry's working with the courier is not your problem.Set a clear deadline (e.g. 7 days) for dispatch of a replacement at the original price or a refund.State that if this is not resolved by that date, the buyer will pursue a chargeback / Section 75
Given Black Friday was the 20th of Nov this year we're around that point. The problem is that the OP clearly doesn't want a refund, they want the tablet at the Black Friday price so ranting and raving about "moi roiiiiiiiiiiiiights" won't help here as it will likely result in a refund.2 -
There's no such thing as an "essential" Christmas present, unless someone is gift-wrapping a diabetic's insulin.
Obviously, you give the tablet to your favorite.Otherwise I have no idea how you would decide which child to disappoint. Maybe if one had asked for a pink one and one asked for a blue one....

Gifting a single tablet to one (edited) daughter seems bizarre."The answer" would've been to buy another tablet and have two to gift. Or not to have gifted the one you've already received until the second arrives, then spin a tale about "Santa being late".I had a similar (not identical) problem a few years ago when I was buying Fire tablets for both my children. One arrived from Amazon as expected, but one didn't. I bought a third tablet from Argos then returned the second Amazon one. Cost me a few quid more but I didn't then have a deeply-disappointed primary-schooler on Christmas Day.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. OP didn't say they had twins. I think that popped up in one of the replies.QrizB said:Gifting a single tablet to one twin seems bizarre.2 -
What date you buy them OP? I think that may have a bearing, plus the added burden of holidays but I reckon they may argue they need 28/30 days to declare it lost. Are you still in that time frame.0

No, but gifting one and giving the other an IOU then watching them "being visibly upset" but still blaming Curry's is equally bizarre whether the children are the same age or not.Aylesbury_Duck said:

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
I wonder if OP filmed it, in order to show currys how they ruined someone's xmaselsien said:

But the OP doesn't want a refund. They want the tablet at the price they paid. So they therefore need to wait.Ergates said:
Abide by consumer rights legislation would be a good start.pinkshoes said:What else do you want them to do?
As they've gifted one of the tablets already then it implies if they got a refund they cannot afford to buy another at the full price. So their only option is to wait.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)1 -
To which they could say "Sorry lost, so we are going to refund you for the lost one"pinkshoes said:

Your list says DoD lost it in transit, not Currt’s.Was there a restriction on how many you could buy since you did not order two as one sale, but two sales to result in two parcells, one of which has gone missing in transit? There will be a time frame before DOD declare it irretrievably lost.DPD could find the parcel and deliver after the holiday.0
