@Gem-gem, I hope your mum is soon on the mend.
@Frugaldom, I wish we had an Olio collector near here, nearest is 8 miles, as is nearest supermarket.
No spending yet this year. We went to the tip on 2nd, didn't call in at any shops on the way home. I normally call into at least one when we are in town. DS1 and his partner came later in the day, left this morning. Now we have snow! Several inches over the last two days. Maybe that's why agent million has not been with my premium bonds prize! Maybe next month.
I have made a £5 Tesco voucher from a game site. The second one in two weeks. I'll add £5 to my interest beater.
Kettle is calling, so I'll "speak" again soon, hugs, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2026.

read but rarely post! had a sad end to the year with the loss of my lovely Brother on 11th December. He had Downs syndrome and us siblings cared for him for 14 years. We are heartbroken. I have more time now but looking ahead to a new Grandchild (my 2nd) in June.I've just had tea at my Daughters, a lovely roast and she was making soup in a soup maker. Just wondered if anyone on here uses one? I tend to buy tinned soup and take it to work in my soup flask18

I don't have a soup maker, but I do make homemade soup for my lunches all the time, I just cook up a big batch at the weekend and freeze it in individual or 2 person portions. I find homemade soup nicer than shop bought generally, you can control the salt content, and it is usually cheaper. if you can get reduced veggies because they are near their date or from a split package then so much the better.
Also when I am on a really tight budget, like now, I find it difficult to be hospitable because I don't have lots of snacks in the house and most things are carefully portioned out for one person (does anyone else find this, or is it just me being really stingy?), but I try to keep a good amount of soup in the freezer so that I can have people round for lunch and it helps me to be a bit more generous.15 -
