Morning all and thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons x.Please to hear all went smoothly @Gers x Safe travels xx
Your non-Christmas Day Christmas sounds fab @TravellingAbuela - glad you had a good time xx
I am cooking Nigella’s ham which we will slice up later for a late lunch with MIL/FIL. I’ll do some potato salad and coleslaw with it. We received some bad news yesterday re the health of a young relative, so I think it’ll be a fairly low key celebration for us.Sorry things are tough for you @silver-oldie - I echo others in saying you have friends here. Hope that helps a little bit xx
Merry Christmas @Floss and all other lurkers 🤣
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all, I managed to get everything done yesterday and I also had a lovely chat with 2 different neighbours when bringing in the bins. DD called in for coffee and picked up a couple of parcels. DGS rang and is relieved that his parents have done the xmas food shopping 😂
I've woken up with a sore throat so I hope it will pass as today I've got a list of things to do though mainly it's cooking day, the turkey crown is already in the oven. so next I'll put the gammon in the slow cooker. There's a boxing day curry gravy to make and some bits to prepare including pigs in blankets with cranberry and brie wrapped in pastry. I want to clean the bathroom as well then later it's our xmas tradition of a Chinese takeaway for tea. Scrooge the musical will be watched later, that's a must. Sorry if my post is a bit disjointed today I'm struggling to get my thoughts in order this morning, so thank heavens for the list !
Gers I'm glad that all went ok yesterday, safe journey home and a speedy recovery.
taff thank you for all your hard work with all the songs and carols.
Thinking of the poorly ones, the sad or lonely ones, have a big hug from me. Hugs to all posters and also those reading along and not posting.
Have a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

Good morning from a dull and windy Mehefinland.
had a bad night brooding over something that was said to me yesterday which I found quite hurtful - I'm putting it down to the excess of gin ,but it's niggling at me and I will have to have it out with the person at some point (and soon).
Popped into the local town yesterday for the building society ( which was dead) and the big soopermarche was buzzing. Parking was horrendous!
Some of the Xmas lights in the village have gone out - the clerk rang me saying that there were sparks coming out of the timer - switch it off and leave well alone. With all the foul weather we have had I suspect there is a water ingress somewhere but that won't be fixed in a hurry at this time of year. As usual the chimps are bellyaching on FB. Public safety far more important than a few poxy lights in my view.
Traditional hotpot in Rayburn quietly doing it's thing - seems odd making it for one, but I can always freeze some.
I will leave you with hopes that the poodles get better, the lonely find some solace and of course, my usual hugs and spoons.
Finally a Carmarthenshire toast.. " To each of us a pig".

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus lane
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
Pullin' on the reins
Bells are ringin', children singin'
All is merry and bright
Hang your stockings and say your prayers
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight!❄️🎀✨🎄☃️🎄✨🎀❄️
Morning! Dry and windy and very cold, had the fire on last night, it might be put on again later on but there's cooking to do so the oven will warm things up today. I cooked a small gammon in coke last night thought I'd give Nigella a go, so that's to finish off today and I said I'd make a chocolate, coffee and walnut cake so OH is most pleased. And there are some sausage rolls to make, followed by some vol au vents because I fancied some. The braised cabbage was done last night and some of it can go in the freezer for another time, then the rest gets done tomorrow but I do have to take the meat out of the freezer. I usually get some rib of beef but can't justify the stupid prices for this year so just a little piece of normal will do. I did sort out the insurances yesterday fr the house and car, saving us £190 on the renewal, which, when I phoned to cancel, miraculously fell a hundred and fifty pounds...It's like, well, why don't you just give that price to start with and I may have stayed to avoid the hassle of saving thirty quid, and then I gave myself an mse kick up the rear because thirty quid is thirty quid isn't it? Ebay and vinted are on my to do list next year now I know how easy it is to post things with InPost...Interesting to read everyones Christmas Eve dinner plans and traditions, I think ours is Love Actually and whatever food is around

dp1, well, don't go stressing yourself, and just remember, at a certain point, our parents had/have to realise they're no spring chickens anymore, so some stuff has to be relegated/delegated, but some [maybe all] are stubborn as mules, so sail on in confidence and book the ticket on the charabanc if you need to
you're doing ok, and you're doing the right thing...Coxy, sorry to hear your news, must be a blow, hoping for better news in the future. Gers, good to hear it all went well, time for a relax and recover...lovely advent lights btw, I forgot to say. TA, glad you had a nice Christmas yesterday, hopefully tomorrows is lovely too..Izzy, I did lauh at the trifle shennanigans! Take care all, remember it's just a day with a roast on steroids, and Merry Christmas for tomorrow [although I'll be saying it again 24 hrs!] Hugs n stuff to them that needs it, and remember you're never actually alone because we are all here for you...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi14 -
Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for starting us off today. Glad to hear all went well yesterday @Gers and that you'll soon be home. A big thank you too @-taff for the daily carols.
@remmie - Happy birthday to your DB.
@Ruby and @nanny - I hope your sore throats get their marching orders!
@Coxy - So sorry to hear your bad news, hugs.
@dp1 - Sorry your DM is giving you a hard time, maybe you could involve her with some prep - laying the table etc?
It's a much brighter morning here and it should stay dry all day; at dawn the clouds were tinged with pink so I'm guessing it's a lot cooler out. I'll soon find out when I take the rubbish out!
Like others, I'll be doing as much food prep as I can today and will also make a batch of oatmeal & fruit cookies to fill the oven space while the chicken is cooking. A bit of general tidying up, an earlier than normal dinner (fish) followed by a shower and that's me done, then I'll be settling down in my PJs for the evening. Xmas choccies and a tipple or two may appear at some point while I wait for the usual fireworks to finish!
Merry Xmas everyone and best wishes to all for a New Year filled with peace, good health and happiness. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -

A very late one from me as today has been a bit manic.Early decent walk for Ldog, then we'd just started peeling spuds, carrots and parsnips when DS2 arrived with the DGC, bearing bacon and barm cakes to make butties. I hadn't long had breakfast so declined, but they stayed a while, full of giddy Christmas spirit. We;ll see the kids on Boxing day.DH friend brought our turkey round in the afternoon, smaller than last years as requested. He has a friend with a smallholding/Glad your op went well Gers, hope you're out of hospital now.Nice to see some familiar names posting. My good wishes go out to everyone, I know some people find it a hard time so hugs to you.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
