Good morning all - thanks for start @Scarlet.All went well yesterday. Went to theatre at about 1.30 and back in bed by 3.00. No pain. I'll be going home later. My night has been regularly disturbed by BP, temperature and pulse checks which has left me tired but I can sleep later. Thanks for all the good wishes. Im mighty relieved that things have been mostly done apart from follow up checks. Now going for a shower so thst I'm shiny and ready for breakfast. I hope that today isn't too hectic or panicky. Hugs to all.16

Good morning Scarlet, thanks for starting us off.
Up early as my mind is too active. It sounds windy outside. I spoke too soon yesterday, when we went out it started to drizzle.
I thought we would only be going to Lids, but they didn't have any turkeys, so we then went to Al*i, no turkeys there either. We finished up at As*a, success, a turkey crown. Now I know why we usually have beef!
Gammon cooked, already OH has had a sandwich. Tonight we will have our traditional (to us) meal of a deconstructed prawn cocktail. Basically a prawn salad with crusty bread. Years ago, when we were younger, we always had prawn cocktail for starters on Christmas day, but as got older we found we couldn't eat so much so moved it to Christmas eve.
Enough waffling from me, have a good day everyone, happy Christmas Eve. It's my brother's 65th birthday today, how did he get that old?
Hope Gers is recovering well.
Love to all14 -
Morning again, seems to be dry outside for a change.
Glad you're all right Gers.
Remmie, that's usually why I'm up so early, I wake up and start thinking about the things I need to do.
I was quite busy yesterday, and will be today, that's ok though, it's just cooking and general jobs.
SO, sorry to read that you're having a bad time at the moment, it's hard isn't it.
You have your virtual friends here though, thinking of you. Don't know if that helps, I hope it does.
Love and best wishes to everyone, hope the poodles soon feel better.
Take care folks.14 -

Morning all
Good to hear all went well Gers, take things easy and let your friends aid your recovery - just the tiredness from hospital takes some time to get over.I’m away out in a few minutes to get the last veg and things - wouldn’t normally leave it late but things have conspired against this week getting it done earlier. Hoping to pop to see a friend this afternoon though she’s been unwell so will await an update.A few bits of cleaning and some sweets to make and that’s it. Has anyone else ever made a sweet called Chinese chews? - the recipe came from friends who’d lived in the US in the 60s and 70s. There’s nothing Chinese about them - it’s basically a sponge type mixture with nuts and dates in, once cooked you roll small bits into bite sized blobs and cover in icing sugar (has to be done while hot and sticky and usually results in burnt fingers!). They’re nice but no idea of their origin.Always salmon here for dinner on Christmas Eve!
take care all

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. So pleased yesterday went well GERS and was hopefully a success.
I don't know how I managed to wake up at 6.30, although that's a sleep in for me! Yesterday was chaotic as it always is on Christmas Day (even though it was a pretend one!) Dinner was enjoyed by all and DD had invited a few friends, and the girls' other grandparents for the evening. We spent the evening playing absolutely silly games as well as more eating and drinking and there was much hilarity too. So a really good day all round and I finally fell through the door at 11.30 and went straight to bed.
Today will be much quieter, I can't stand the pace these days! First job will be getting out of the freezer all the stuff needed for my Italian (style!) cooks tomorrow morning. Youngest DGD says she will come up and help me but I'll wait and see if that happens. They will be chomping at the bit wanting to open all their presents but that's to wait until DD finishes work at 2 pm. As DD is working again Boxing Day it should be a much earlier night than last night.
Have a wonderful Christmas one and all whatever your plans. Thinking of the poorlies, sad or lonely as always. SO I wish we lived nearer, you would be more than welcome to share ours. It's not a good time to be alone, especially after losing a loved one. Thinking of you especially. Take care all, be safe xx

Thank you for the start @ScarletRibbons , it really does help knowing I have you lovely people.
@TA Thank you for the kind thought but I'm quite a long way south of you.
Pleased everything went well @Gers and you'll soon be home in your own bed.
Very cold and windy here. Not going anywhere.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.13 -
Morning everyone
Just a quickie as I have potatoes cooking to mash and carrots and parsnips to blanche. Then I'll go down to mam and dads with everything that's prepared and bring the turkey crown home with me. I'm having a hard time with my mam, she's not happy with me cooking Christmas dinner and has been phoning me several times a day to complain about it. I understand I've taken the job away from her , but dinner was awful last year...obviously I haven't told her that! I'm worried about her just now, but it will have to wait till after the New Year.
I had messages and videos from little one yesterday, full of excitement, very happy to be back at Butlins.
I spent most of the day with my friend and her grandchildren yesterday and we had a lovely day.
Eldest DD is on her way home, she left at 5 am and will be here by 12.30,she has requested a toastie for lunch.
I hope everyone has a good day and wish you all a Merry Christmas for tomorrow.
Thinking of you Silver Oldie, I hope you can find some comfort knowing we all care about you x13 -
Morning all
Feels very cold here and quite windy. I have woken with a sore throat and headache I hope it’s not the flu thing that’s doing the rounds, I have messaged my sister and will see what she says we are supposed to be going there for dinner tomorrow with mum but as mum is elderly and vulnerable I’m not sure if we should go or not 😩 I have the meat here as sister and her partner are vegetarian but I will have to get some extra veg in if we are staying here,
I made a baileys cheesecake yesterday and 18 GF mince pies which are really tasty, we had one warm out of the oven, I may make the tiramisu today but will wait to see what we are doing, if we don’t go I shall save it for New Year’s Day.
Gers I’m so glad all went well safe trip home xxx
We have to hoover and mop through downstairs today and give the bathroom a clean.
SO I have messaged you xx
Have good days all and take care xx13
