Hi,
Wish to connect my laptop to the Television set in a Travelodge room.
The laptop screen is very small and i am trying to lay out a printed circuit board, so i need a bigger screen. I have a HDMI to HDMI lead, and the TV has a HDMI port in the back of it, so can i just plug in my laptop and use the TV screen with my laptop?...or will the laptop be damaged?

Can't think of any way that you can damage your laptop by connecting.
Doesn't mean that it will work though, hotel TVs are often configured to restrict this kind of access, does the TV remote give you the HDMI port as an input option?
Suck it and see.1 -
Maybe best to ask at desk & explain.Life in the slow lane0

I frequently do as well as taking my firestick and plugging that in to watch.Your life is too short to be unhappy 5 days a week in exchange for 2 days of freedom!0

I'd just try it and see - so long as you have the leads and the TV controls allow you to select the inputs, I can't see any reason why this would not simply work. Access may be fiddly. The remote control might not allow you to select the HDMI input, but there are often some minimal buttons on the actual TV itself that allow any restrictions via the remote to be over-ridden.
I would not ask at the desk as they will simply default to "no". If you ask and are told "no", you have to respect that. If you don't ask, hopefully assuming won't make an XXX out of u and me.
In fact, this is something where being a budget hotel might work to your favour as they'll more likely have a lower-end TV which is just simpler to operate.0 -
From your previous posts you’re an electronic engineer. This is pretty basic electronic stuff - so you tell us!
you even know the exact models of the two devices you’re connecting (which you haven’t seen fit to tell us!)
It should be fine…
a tv is a horrible device to do detailed work on….1 -
Assuming the OP was in the Travelodge yesterday evening when they asked this question, it would be nice if they reported back how things went.1

usually have no issues with laptop or Roku in a Premier Inn tv...plug in, alter video setting if needed and away you go........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
