Morrison Data Services - uncontactable!
My elderly m-i-l had a card through the door asking for a meter reading. We are now trying to submit same through the website and phone number on the card but it seems impossible. The website is down and the phone number just has a recorded announcement.
Is this a wind-up or have they just turned everything off for Christmas?

Submit the readings on your supplier's website. Otherwise wait for MDS to come back. They have to make at least two attempts to get a reading.1

Why don't they leave a message on their systems to say they're closed for Christmas, or something? Looks like they've just abandoned things. If your outgoings exceed your income, your upkeep will be your downfall.

Their website and telephone support should still be available?Morrisons Data Services are only seeking a meter reading on behalf of her energy supplier; you can send the reading straight to the supplier and keep MDS out of the loop.N. If an organisation puts a card through your door demanding a meter reading they shouldn't then turn off their website and phones. If your outgoings exceed your income, your upkeep will be your downfall.

Just give the Supply company your meter reading(s) and repeat that every month. Then you'll get accurate bills.
Or ask for smart meters to be installed as soon as possible to get the same result and no more meter readers calling.
BTW the meter reading portal My Reads | Submit Meter Readings | M Group seems to be working perfectly for my address. Not that I need to submit them, being a smart meter.1 -
They don't demand, they request. They work on behalf of most energy suppliers. As has now been said, twice, just submit the reading to your supplier directly.
If your relative gets a smart meter fitted then the need for meter reading will be obviated.0 -
MDS meter readers are still working up to Christmas Eve and the offices will be open too.
I'm guessing the meter reader has left an old card.
Have you tried the portal that Rodders53 suggested?0 -

We're talking about an elderly vulnerable lady who gets anxious at the smallest thing. She tried phoning the number on the card, 0800 0561305, and it made no sense to her. Even my wife was baffled when she tried accessing the website, www.morrisonds.com/my-reads. Another member of the family has the supplier account but they're away for Christmas. So in your ideal world your solution would be sensible, but in the real world spreading misinformation on an out-of-date card to vulnerable people is very distressing. If your outgoings exceed your income, your upkeep will be your downfall.

Hardly surprising that they have such a dire Trustpilot rating ! The announcements on the 0800 number are unintelligible. Seems they're cheapskates and have used a poor Text To Speech app rather than pay for a professional studio recording. In the resultant bodge, syllables are missing or duplicated - just listen to the 'www' part of the URL, and what's the bit at the end? Similarly, 'MPAN' should be spelled out as 'M-P-A-N Number', not an unrecognisable word.Their website is equally shambolic because its security certificate is invalid. 🙄The solution is for the OP's MIL to be on the Priority Services Register and to set up a password for genuine meter readers to quote.0
