or possibly get a gutter cleaning guy who uses a vacuum pole cleaner.
    That's a cracking idea!
A friend had virtual shrubbery removed from their house gutter after years of neglect by one of them - the guy struggled but persevered, and cleaned it all out. I was astonished.
It should suck that debris fairly easily, I'd have thought, and it's only 8' down from the roof. Or tackle from each end.

  • Yesterday I must have contacted 15 different contractors and all were not interested. I'm focusing on gutter cleaners primarily and drain guys for now.

I'm also weighing up what I'd need to do it myself. Could you guys suggest the vaccuum pole cleaner that you're thinking about please.

Not worth buying a vacuum pole yourself - just ask a gutter cleaning fellow to do it.

I'd try the suggestion of a roofing batten with a few long nails in the end first.

    ^ This

From the photos it looks pretty straightforward to drag out most of the rubbish. If you have a garden hoe then that’s the first six feet sorted, then @stuart45 suggestion of the roofing batten is easy and cheap.

Forgot about drain cleaning guys, just go for gutter cleaners, they use lightweight carbon fibre poles, just adding extra poles when required.
if they can do 2/3 story house they can certainly do between the garage.
ived used one guy for 6 years now for gutters over a conservatory, but he’s never managed to suck a extra tenner out of my wallet.
A thankyou is payment enough .

It's been a while since I opened this thread and the situation has not changed. I've invited dozens of tradespeople out and tried to clear the gap myself but it is futile. There really is no way to do it unfortunately.

What we've decided to do is simple, wait 3 years for when we have enough for an extension hopefully. We can live with the damp, we've been living with it for years already.
