O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie treu sind deine Blätter!

zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.

Gers, hopefully one of your favourite tunes is up today, well done for being so organised! Have a lovely time away and hope the procedure goes off smoothly. That's so kind of you @Taff. I can 'hear' my beloved DM singing it as we children stood under the tree which always had real candles on. Happy / sad memories are swirling around.
I've been out, took the recycling stuff to a dumpster, visited the new cafe which had a baking morning so picked up one of their cinnamon bun bread puddings for next week and a sneaky wee flat white for myself. Washing machine has finished and all are hanging on the clothes horse. Puddini bonbons finished too, they look rather scrappy and not as Nigella would have liked. The pudding I used has lots of dried fruit so they are rather bumpy and the green icing looks only OK from a distance.
I shall remind the recipients that it's the thought that counts.
Now waiting for lunch to cook (chicken Kyvi with mash and peas) and watching, for the umpteenth time, High Society.@YorksL - Stollen is OK anytime. Spread the joy. My late DM had a very dim view of the marzipan put in the middle as it's not the way it was meant to be, she didn't like change. My favourite cousin has sent me a fabulous one from Dresden which is were it originated from so I'm taking it down to share.I had a giggle at the various hungry younger generation - my late brother was the same even though he weighed exactly the same the day he died as he was at school despite hoovering up food.11 -
I too was taught O Tannenbaum in the 50's by our favourite German teacher, Dr Berger. She taught us lots of naughty things too which didn't go down well with our other German teacher, the staid Miss Taylor!
I am a sucker for Stollen too (mine is currently in the freezer away from my greedy fingers until Christmas Eve). I can still taste the nicest one I ever had, I bought it from the Christmas market in Dusseldorf. I wonder if that originated from Dresden? Oh yum my mouth is watering!
Well the bed finally got made and the washed bedding is festooning the back bedroom with the dehumidifier doing its thing. Should be dry by tonight. I think that's my last job for today, once lunch has been scoffed it will be an afternoon in the Land of Sloth methinks. Take care all xx

Hi everyone,
A busy day for me yesterday with the family Christmas outing to the panto courtesy of Mum, then out for dinner with friends in the evening. We treated ourselves to a stay at the TL - bit basic but comfortable. Now home and just relaxing for a few hours then off to DSis’s house for more merriment. I’ve made a veggie chilli to take.I received a bowel screening kit in the post yesterday - because nothing says Christmas quite like that! I’m also donating blood tomorrow - Christmas the season for giving!!
Glad you’re all packed and ready for the off @Gers. Hope all goes well for the procedure x
Hugs and spoons to all
