After my busy yesterday I will certainly have a quieter time today once I've cleared a couple of chores out of the way. The pre-op assessment only took half an hour - lots of questions, BP, bloods and urine all done. I was home by 2.30p.m. On the way I contemplated a little detour to see @Camelot, however the rain was biblically torrential, roads were accumulating standing water with everything looking horrendous so I decided to crack on home, albeit it rather slowly.Today I have an appointment with the pharmacist, then I'll collect my ironing. At home I'm going make a batch of Nigella's puddini bonbons, I used to make then every year for gifts and then stopped. I don't like Christmas pudding, or even fruit cake, so wouldn't eat them but they are great to give. They can mostly be made sitting in front of the telly. 😂 Only ingredient I can't find is angelica which will affect the holly look, can't be helped. A bit of packing too, still swithering about taking a dressing gown or not - edging towards 'not'.11

Good morning, thanks Gers, Glad you got home all right yesterday, it sounds a bit hazardous.
I was supposed to be going to a carol service in our parish church last evening with a friend - well, we turned up outside the church, it was in darkness, doors closed, no one about. Strange, we thought, so hovered about for a few minutes, looking hopefully down the road, no one in sight. Anyway, my friend thought that the person who told her about it had got the time /day wrong. She didn't have a mobile number for the person, so we went to the pub across the street and had a glass of wine! Then came back to our house for our usual Friday evening chit chat.
Great to hear from you Nan, as Gers said, you are missed! Sorry to hear that life has been so difficult.
We sold our caravan back in the summer, when it became clear that we weren't going to use it for the foreseeable future. Also, our storage yard fees were going up year after year, though so is everything. Like your yard, they were going over to container storage - the owner told us that he could make far more money storing containers than caravans. You can't blame them I suppose.
Anyway, I hope that next year is better for you and yours.
I've got plenty to do today round the house as usual. I think ds and dil will be over at some point this weekend as well.
Hope everyone is ok, thoughts to the sad and poorly.
Take care folks.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. One more appointment out of the way, have you just the op left now? You are having a bit of a time of it just now. Just like NAN. Sometimes old age isn't much fun is it. Everything seems to bombard you all at once.
I had a funny episode myself yesterday and apart from reading a few posts on my phone I never got round to posting. . When I got up I kept having blackouts and going dizzy and feeling faint. I collapsed on the sofa and there I stayed until it hit me it might be low BP so I tested and yes it was. 90/54. I have suffered from high BP for years and taken medication for it but it's never been low! Strange where that episode came from . I'll take it again shortly though the blackouts and dizzy spells have moved on thankfully. If it happens again I'll drop one of my tablets. I can't face the hassle of trying to do an e-consult or phone call for advice.
The Friday Tidy never happened as it was the last thing I felt up to so that may happen on Monday. Today is shopping day with DS and will be my last before Christmas. Not a great deal is needed, just fridge stuff, f & v. Everything else is stashed away in the overflow freezer. I expect the sm to be heaving.
Even my trusty old laptop is showing it's age these days and keeps acting bizarrely and doing stupid stuff so after Christmas I might need to replace it. Just a pain setting a new one up again. Meanwhile I hope everyone else is ok and the poorlies are feeling better. TAFF your songs/carols are keeping us all going I think! You take it easy NAN and don't be attempting too much too soon. ((HUGS)) for all in need, take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, glad your appointment went well. I actually wouldn't have been home yesterday as I was at work so good job you didn't make a detour.
I've just taken friend's DD to work and called at Aldi for flowers (for a gift), it's dry here for a change so will go delivering presents shortly - hopefully folk will still be asleep when I do a door dash - I have far too much to do today!
Lovely to hear from you Nan, hope things get better for you.
Take care of yourself TA, that sounds scary.
Must dash, have a good Saturday. Take care. XX11 -
@Scarlet - what a great detour! @Camelot - I would have phoned first, hate it when people just 'pop in' without checking first. @TA - that's not good, but well done on checking. Yes, op on Tuesday, go in at 11.30 and then down to theatre at 1.30 all being well. I've got an easily fixed problem, nothing long lasting or nasty, @Izzy, please take your time, you're making me dizzy. Here's my advent wreath. One candle is lit every Sunday for four weeks after which is Christmas. I've lit the fourth one for the full effect.

❄️🎀✨🎄☃️🎄✨🎀❄️
So this is Christmas, and what have you done
Another year over, and a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas, I hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones, the old and the young
A very merry Christmas, and a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one, without any fear

Morning all! Night out went well, it's the friends birthday on the 30th so we'll be going out again then. I'm not sure what's going on today. I gave the chairs a good clean with murphys yesterday, I may sand and wax today or sand or neither..The seat pads also need recovering and I may have to unrepair a few repairs to do a proper job. I do have insurances to sort out, and some last minute delivering of things, have't got my veg yet or cream, also need/want some biscuits for cheese but I don't anticipate going manic shopping or anything. It's all very low key this year...I am putting the tree lights on in the day though, love the twinkly lights..
Gers, gld it went well and you got home safe. How long do you leave the candles burning for? Asking because we've never done that in our family..Gosh, I remember those bon bon things, I loved them, and I do have a spare Christmas cake that's been maturing away for a couple of years
Yorkslass, you could always go next year
or somehwere closer but hotter....Scarlet, how bizarre but how lucky it was close to the pub
TA, waggy finger, you know...Izzy, hope you relax at some point today
Rosy, glad everything went ok yesterday. Right, tiem to decide what I'm doing, hope you all have as good a day as possible!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10 -
Morning everyone
I didn't set an alarm for this morning and slept till after 9....I must have needed it.
Little one is coming up for the day and is going to open her presents from me...then we can play with them! It seemed a bit daft waiting when I'm not going to see her on Christmas day, especially as, when they come back from Butlins, it's only a few days till her birthday.
Yesterday was a lovely morning at nursery, then our afternoon tea was delicious. I brought a box home with some leftovers, which I ate later while watching TV with my feet up.
Silver oldie if you're reading along I hope you're ok.
Right I hope everyone has a good day x9 -
Morning all, thanks Gers, good luck with the op. Lovely advent wreath.Scarlet- shame about the service but lucky about the pub across the road
Izzy, lots of dotting about at this time of year, good idea to ditch the roast tomorrow.Glad you had a good night out Taff.Sounds a bit scary TA, hope you feel better now.Glad it's dry for you Camelot. No boys football this morning so we are off to take Ldog in the car to go on a longer walk. I'm making a curry for tea.Take care all

@taff - thanks for the song again. As for candle burning, if others are here then for a couple of hours. If on my own then a glass of wine time! As you can see they’re all at different heights as one lit on first advent, two on second etc only four lit on the advent before Christmas Day - tomorrow. It’s very German tradition, one which I enjoy following.9
