Presumably, knowing the floor was wet you were taking control of your child or holding his hand at the  very least.

The store should have put a sign out but personal responsibility has to come into play. Most 4 year olds I know fall or trip frequently and get cuts, scrapes and bruises.

I think they would have to hand it over to a solicitor or an insurance company but not  necessarily to you as the footage may contain other people.
Assuming you mean the OP's solicitors or insurers, they don't have any more rights than the OP does.

The footage can be redacted if there are other people involved.

Their offer to view the footage is fair. If it has other people in it they can't just give you a copy.

I assume your child was walking with you when they slipped and not running off ahead.

What is the purpose of this SAR request? What are you hoping to achieve?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

More fundamentally, does a SAR request even cover CCTV footage? It's debatable that it's covered, because it does not include any processable personal data pertaining to the person in the footage.
If CCTV footage is considered to be relevant to a DSAR request, it would be a big change for any company holding CCTV footage, because it would mean that they are obliged to offer anyone who has ever appeared on any of their footage a copy of it in a form that is readable to the person requesting it.
It would also create a practical issue - if someone writes to you asking for a copy of them appearing in your CCTV recordings, how would you identify them?

Ah, that's quite an onerous requirement. I wonder who passes judgement on whether the operator of a CCTV system is "able" to edit out other people in the footage? Perhaps the franchise holders in this case simply state that they can't, and that therefore visiting to view in person is the only option?

I guess they must have known the floor was wet as it had been mopped. To your is with wet floor, can your 4 year old as would a sign of helped. While I agree that it not nice your son being injured, the incident should be recorded in the accident book and maybe referred to the HSE. I don’t see any further action make sense to me.

TBH. A simple ask to speak to manager at time & issue could be resolved.
