NS&I Account balances timescales

I've applied for this information, any experiences of how long they take in working days? 
Do they sometimes request more information ?

I had terrible trouble with NS&I - they insist on everything by post and each request takes weeks. They often don't understand simple requests that they have to pass on to different dept so they send the wrong info anyway. Sorry to be negative.

I'm not impressed by their website and the phone call wasn't inspiring.

I found them to be inconsistently inconsistent. One person would be fantastic, one would be appalling. Repeat to fade. 

One of their staff famously told me they wouldn't be passing on the proceeds of my husband's accounts to me as "you chose not to change your name when you married". In the end I asked my lawyer to write to them. 

It might have been hilarious in different circumstances.
