PCN for Single Yellow Line

I received a PCN for 'Parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours'. I parked on a single yellow line, opposite a shop. There are 2 lanes and it is marked where you can and can't park. I have parked here for years, as have many other cars. There has never been any signs, and no one has ever received a fine. Today, I parked and when I left the shop I had a PCN fine stuck to my windshield, as did a number of other cars. I didn't see any visible signs (from what I remember), and when I checked on google maps (July 2025 is the latest), there are also no signs. Is is possible to appeal or not?

  • by the way, I parked there like a month ago and didn't receive anything, so it would have to have been a recent thing.

As this is council ( I assume. ) then I suggest that you post your query over on the FTLA parking forum website after reading their posting requirements first,  they might be able to advise you

Mse parking forum tends to deal with private parking issues
  • You can appeal but if your grounds are "I've parked there before with no fine" then it's not a great argument.

Go back and check the signage and post on FTLA as above.

Yeah so there is a sign, but not next to the shop I parked at. Its like 30 metres down the street.

    Which says ? Photo?

A single yellow line means you can't park during restricted hours, which are no doubt on that sign.
