House purchase and previous owner debt letters

I had a similar issue and would say the debt agencies are lying about the old owners saying they haven't moved.
The debt agencies just want to be paid so will send numerous demands and never check any land registry entry.
I would say open the post and ring the company quoting the letter reference. Tell the company the date you moved in and that they are to update all records with this information.
If you get the run around insist on speaking to a manager.
Advise that now they know the address is incorrect they are not to sell the debt on.
I say this from experience because I also had letters for old occupants. When I told one agency that they no longer lived here, another agency would chase the debt because it had been sold on.
6 years later I had a rain forest arriving through the door every week and it was too much.
It took me over a year to stop all the letters once I really started putting the effort in. I rang every letter on the day of arrival. Spent a lot of time getting through to managers. Heard a lot of bullsh*t from the call centre staff. But it was worth it.
So start now and phone them.0 -
Anytime i got these i simply RTS - if they continued made it clear-keep sending they go straight in the bin.
They soon stopped0
