Morning everyone, dry at the moment. I didn't get on here at all since I posted on Tues or Wed. Just had a quick catch up and want to send congrats to your DS and DP Yorks Lass - lovely news.RRuby sounds like youre having a wonderful time.We had a lovely meal in M/cr with ex SisiL and her DH, but it was very expensive, she ordered a bottle of wine omg.. Luckily some of our share was covered by the gift token.Had a drink in a nice pub after before we caught our train home. Nice to catch up though.Today we have the sad task of a funeral for a dear friend this afternoon. Thinking of those missing loved ones at this time of year.I need to take pooch out for a decent walk,, it poured down yesterday so we didnt go far at all.Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. ❄️🎀✨🎄☃️🎄✨🎀❄️
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight❄️🎀✨🎄☃️🎄✨🎀❄️
Morning! It's kind of not raining but kinda raining right now, bit grey, but Im off to neighbouring town to fetch a couple of free chairs, one needs repair but they look ok and I will re-cover the seats. This is part of my stealth campaign to reclaim my kitchen seating area..eventually, there'll be so many chairs, we have to use it as a proper table
OH is cottoning on, he said he was thinking about what was for supper before I even asked him yesterday,.. I think I have a cold coming, nothing feels normal, so I'll take a tablet this morning in case, and potentially make some chilli and garlic soup later on...or something...Ruby, soiunds lovely, I'm envious, hope you enjoyed the concert! Gers, fingers crossed for your op..Coxy, well done delegating
Yorkslass, cngratulations to them both
Izzy, she sounds a bit more comfortable , you are a good friend. Allie, shame about the get together but you're right, there's a lot of nasties about tbis time fo year. Scarlet, enjoy the day out [ hopefully!] TA, well done finding a chrissy jumper
camelot, also well done on the meringue Mark II
Time to make more tea, take care all...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
Morning all, thanks for starting us off @Scarlet and also to @-taff for the carol. And thank you all for DS's engagement congratulations. I had an idea what was on the cards (even before he confided in me that he was going to pop the question) because he'd asked more than once if I liked her. I always said if she made him happy (and vice versa) then I was happy.
I've no idea when last night's heavy rain stopped - whenever it was, it was certainly well after I went to bed. That, combined with the police helicopter hovering overhead, made sleep hard to come by but eventually I nodded off. It's dull and dreary this morning and there's yet more of the wet stuff to come later this afternoon, some of it heavy again. We'll be growing webbed feet at this rate!
I've nothing pressing to do today and the highlight of the day could be taking the monthly gas meter reading that (hopefully) won't come as a nasty surprise.
At some stage I'll have to make the effort to ring my BiL and his wife for a catch-up; we've never been particularly close but they're the last of DH's family so it's a bit of a "duty" thing. Tea tonight will see the last of the fridge bits used up, leftover potatoes sliced and fried with an egg & baked beans.
@Ruby - Enjoy tonight's concert, it all sounds fab. I've just realised it's 55 years since I went to Venice
but I can't imagine it's changed that much.
@camelot - Your pavlova sounds scrumptious and I'll bet it will be well received.
@TA - I hope your meet-up with your SiL will be a good one for you both with lots of happy memories.
@Scarlet - Fingers crossed DH's procedure goes without a hitch and that you survive the wander around Newcastle.
@Gers - Good luck for tomorrow and let's hope this PI will be better than the last one!
@AA - I don't blame you for avoiding all the winter bugs when you can, there's too many going around at the moment.
@WL- Sorry to hear DGS2 has a chest infection, I hope it clears up in time for Xmas.
@snoozer - Ha ha, glad to hear your DH's culinary efforts with roast pork were up to scratch.
@Izzy - You're a good friend and it's good the latest lot of carers seem to be better than the first ones.
@Rosy - Glad you enjoyed your (expensive) meal yesterday, not so good with a funeral today.
@-taff - Chilli & garlic soup should scare the pants off any germs!
Happy days all, healing wishes for the not-so-well and hugs for those feeling sad and lonely, unfortunately it's not an easy time of year for everyone. Take care, stay safe (and dry!). XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Hello everyone
I don't know where my time has gone the last couple of days, at least I now have all the presents wrapped and the cards written, only one to deliver when I go to work tomorrow.
Little one is improving slowly, she is still very tired and her tummy is still upset. I was down yesterday afternoon - she enjoyed doing some Christmas crafts and then we cuddled up on the sofa and watched TV. Hopefully she'll come up here on Saturday. She always seems very fragile when she has been poorly in hospital.
Yorkslass - congratulations to your son and his wife to be
Redruby enjoy Venice, I think it must be about 30 years since I was there.
Snoozer - that was an awful thing to say, I hope Laura is ok now - some people just don't think before they speak!
I remember when little one was a tiny baby in her pram, attached to an oxygen cylinder, people used to stare at her in the pram or say 'what's wrong with her' DD used to get so upset.
We've taken Christmas down at nursery this afternoon and everything the children have made is ready in gift bags for them to take home tomorrow. We have our Christmas party then a visit from a caretaker in a red suit! We close after presents and are all going for a festive afternoon tea - looking forward to it. x7
