Morning Scarlet and all to follow
We had a good first day yesterday the flight was really quick only took 1.5 hours then we got a water bus to the hotel, the hotel is an old palace and simply beautiful we had a walk around and stopped for a drink and got a few bits in the co-op, they are like delicatessens here with so much lovely food and Christmas bits, we then came back to the room and had a nap as we were shattered and then went out for dinner last night, we both slept like logs when we got back in having been up since 2.
Today we are going exploring 😃 we just like to walk around and wonder at everything, a bit of shopping might happen too, tonight is the Vivaldi four seasons concert so we will have an early dinner and then go to that.
Its quite mild here, we bought coats and scarfs and hats etc but we have been far too hot going out in all that, I will just wear a t-shirt under my coat today and take a fleece with me.
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet.
Lovely to hear you're having a good time Ruby, enjoy the concert.
Dry out for now, just went to open the gate for the coal delivery and saw 2 shooting stars - makes me smile.
More meringue made last night, one of the ones I made on Tuesday went in the bin! It's bring a plate day for lunch at school and my offering is pavlova with some lovely fresh berries and cream for those who want it - I've realised that I can't eat very much dairy now (not that I really like cream), cheese caused a bit of an upset tummy!
Must deliver some presents later before it's too late, I have a busy weekend ahead.
Thanks for all the songs and carols taff.
What a cheek snoozer, I'm cross for you.
Take care. XX
Hugs to those in need.13 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Another day of rain forecast for us, we are certainly filling the reservoir back up after the drought.
I had the usual good day out with bus buddy in Skipton. It was a day of on and off rain so we tried to dodge the showers as best we could. Not many stall holders had bothered to set up, just a few hardy ones. I managed to get a Christmas jumper, not one I would have chosen but it was the only one I spotted that wasn't in a larger size. Our usual hostellerie was quite busy but that was because a couple of larger tables had been reserved for Christmas get togethers.
Grounded today but I have sis in law coming up later to do a swap of gifts for our respective grand kids. Though the gifts these days are money envelopes as it's easier.. It's 2 years today since my DB suddenly passed so I think it might be a day for memories. I want to get the kitchen and bathroom cleaned before she arrives because if I leave it then it will just be more jobs for the Friday Tidy.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Oh almost forgot - YL congratulations to your DS and DP. A nice surprise for you. Take care all, be safe xx

Morning allGlad you're enjoying Venice Ruby. Went there in the 80s and it poured with rain so we couldn't go on a gondola, we were so disappointed. It is lovely though. Enjoy the concert.Going out for a Christmas lunch with my ex-colleague today. I'm sure we'll both go home with sore throats as we put the world to rights!Hope everyone has a good day. Take care x11

Morning again, it's dark and damp here.
Ruby, sounds as if you're having a wonderful time!
Your Pavlova sounds nice Camelot, it's a lovely combination, berries, meringue and cream.
I've got a busy day ahead, husband is having a minor procedure at the Dr's and I'll go with him, that's this morning, then I'm meeting a friend in Newcastle for the afternoon. In a way I wish I hadn't agreed to that, everywhere will be heaving, but she wants to go for the Christmas atmosphere. However, it will be great to see her, and we'll wander round chatting, and looking at things. I'm just being an early morning grinch I think. As long as I get home before people start coming home from work.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.
Take care folks.12 -
Morning all. Thanks for st start @Scarlet, I hope that all goes well for your DH today. Congratulations to @YorksLass for her DS's wonderful news. 💍💍🎉How fab to hear from you @Ruby. Already your holiday sounds wonderful. Meanwhile, the rain poured down again all last night. When I woke much earlier the stars were twinkling away beautifully. When collecting my order yesterday I only bought some wine for Christmas, two red and two white. And I have the bottles I had in the house, I don't drink much anymore so I may as well donate them.@Camelot - you'll be more able to deal with dairy after a couple of months. Your mini pavs sound delicious!Once again I'm off down to Glasgow ☹️ I have the pre-op assessment tomorrow morning and I'm wary of the weather, the dark and increased traffic. I found a PI five minutes from the hospital clinic which is in a mostly business area so it's a no-brainer for me. The stress drained away when I made the decision to go down today.@Silveroldie- I hope you're OK, it's a tough time for all those grieving for loved ones. 💕 Thanks for the Christmas songs @Taff.I'm sure that there's some busy Christmas stuff happening. My card count is only at four this year, mind you I stopped sending cards over fifteen years ago apart from to Mum and two others. Now it's down to two. I've put new batteries into the string of Brussels sprouts lights which wind round the family photos on one wall all year round!Have a great day everyone. Hugs to all.9

Hi all
Hope everyone is ok and tolerating/surviving these last few dark days before it starts getting better - the constant rain doesn’t help, it seems so long ago we were blessed with constant warmth.Yesterday as well as having my hair trimmed and doing a charity shop drop off, I managed to get the last present, finish my cards and wrap almost everything. The presents just need tagging and beribboning 😂
Last day invigilating until 9th January. I’ve kindly been invited to the college Christmas bash as the exams team are up for an award but I declined, don’t really ‘do’ that many people, especially with all the bugs there at the moment.Enjoy your Thursday

Morning all. Dark and damp here at the moment.
Been busier this week with childcare for DGS2, who has a chest infection. He's well enough to come over here today though, so that will be easier. DD will also drop her car at our local garage for a service and get a lift back home.
Other than that, we still have some presents to wrap but all the cards are done. My mind is now turning to DH's 80th birthday, which is early in January. We have a couple of things to do on the day, plus another friend is organising a lunch for him a few days later. I can see quite a bit of cooking coming up
Many congratulations to @YorksLass' son and forthcoming daughter in law; such lovely anticipation of a wedding.
Hope everyone else is doing ok. Good idea re the overnight stay Gers. You'll be pleased when the procedure is over and done with.
Must finish my cuppa and get dressed now!11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons. I hope DH’s procedure goes okay and enjoy your city trip x
Lovely to hear you arrived safely @RedRuby1231 and the concert later sounds fab xx
Exciting news for your DS @YorksLass, many congratulations to them both x
@snoozer I did chuckle at your DH. Mine does naff all for Christmas except for coming food/drink shopping. He actually eye-rolled when I asked him to write cards for his parents, brother and sister yesterday - we need to post them as not seeing each other until 28th. I also organise all gifts throughout the year and wrap/send them. Sorry/not sorry then that roast pork was on the menu for last nights’ dinner and due to me wrapping all Christmas gifts, the dinner fell to him. It was lovely and just goes to show he CAN do it!!I discovered whilst wrapping that a pair of Vans for DS2 that arrived last week and I only opened yesterday, are the wrong size! So I’ve had to reorder from somewhere else at a more expensive price (these were a BF deal) Just hoping they arrive in time 🤞🏻
Just the return parcel to send today and hopefully a Co-op deal to buy, if my local one has it. Bolognaise pasta bake for dinner.
Have a good day all.CoxyCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 5/26 Currently reading Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie11 -
Morning everyone thanks for the start scarlet I’ve spoke to a lot of people who have said Newcastle is busy but the metro centre is quiet I think it’s Fenwicks window and the Xmas markets enjoy it’s only once a year . RUBY Venice sounds wonderful enjoy the concert . Camelot your pavlova sounds lovely it’s one of my favourites although I like everything. AA your as busy as ever I think you have made a good decision there are far to many bugs about at this time of year good idea Gers to have an overnight stay hopefully it will all be over and done with soon . YL congratulations to your son and soon to be DIL what lovely news . Silver Oldie I know this can be a sad time of the year for many but we are all thinking about you . I’m going up my friends this morning to sort her fridge out and do a bit of a tidy her daughter is doing her some shopping tonight when she finishes work so I said I would make sure she has room to put it it’s a lot of sandwich stuff so it’s easy for the carers this lot are at least turning up I know they can’t do a lot but it’s made her feel more settled then I’m at the dentist this afternoon just for a check up just in time for the torrential rain that’s forcast it’s just as well I haven’t got far to walk so I don’t think there will be much work done today and I’m out all day tomorrow but so what the house won’t fall down sausage casserole just to heat through tonight nice and easy and a little gap in the freezer which will probably be filled with cheap veg at the weekend. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10
