Not my parking ticket

Hello. I received a letter today about an unpaid parking ticket. I phoned the Council involved, they guided me to the photographic proof on their website. Their photo is a white work van, with a registration plate one digit away from my purple citroen cactus car. I have appealed it, it's obviously an error, but I'm curious if I can do anything to have my details erased from that Council's records, including the email address I had to provide to be able to appeal.
That's assuming of course they uphold my appeal and redirect their demand for £160 to the company (name on the side of the work van photographed) that got the ticket.
Thanks.

As its a council matter, I suggest that you post your query over on the FTLA parking forum website after reading their posting requirements first, they should be able to advise you3

Yes, GDPR gives you the right to erasure of your details but only if they have no reason to keep it1

I would simply focus on the fact that it's not your vehicle and leave the rest to them. There may be an escalation path, leading up to a hearing at an independent tribunal. If they do persist in their claim, then the tribunal will listen to and evaluate the facts.2
