Should I pay this Car Parking Fine Euro Car Parks / Debt Recovery Plus

Hi, I have read several posts and the long Newbie thread about this matter and have elected to ignore letters but now I have a second letter from Debt Recovery Plus and I'm considering paying.

Basically, I had an eye infection and needed to go to  eye casualty and parked in a local Big Morissions.  Clearly i was in casualty for too long as several weeks later i got the fine through the post. Sadly I didn't get the letter initially and it was a month overdue so contacting the retialer was not really an option. I didn;t notice nay signs and haven't gone back to check how visible they are.

My wife wants me to pay the fine as she is worried that it may affect my credit rating and our mortgage is due for renewal.
Also I am very busy with 2 jobs, 2 kids and a terminally ill father and don;t have time for court or preparing what may not be a very good defence for court.

Please help

Not a fine,  just an invoice

    Question

Should I pay this Car Parking Fine Euro Car Parks / Debt Recovery Plus

    No,definitely not

It wont get to a court hearing , which wont be for a year or more,  if ever

The defence is already written for you,  in the template defence thread in announcements near the top of the forum

Can you identify where it says "fine" or penalty on any of the paperwork you have received?

  • Why do you think a two bit bunch of chancers like Debt Recovery Plus can affect your credit rating?

    No you aren't!

    Errr...how? DR Plus letters?!

You need to read the official MSE Guide linked at the top of the page (it was checked and agreed by Martin Lewis himself).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks, I've spoken to 2 people who have paid up for an identical fine purely on the basis that it was in a Morrisons car park even though they ignored letters successfully from lesser known business areas!  I'll be ignoring. Thanks guys and Merry Christmas
  • There is no "fine" it's an invoice like you would get from a plumber not an authority that can fine you.

They have not been fined, they have fallen for what you could call a scam.

    I'll be ignoring

Where have you got that bit of extremly bad advice from?

Ignoring it is not a good idea

Eh? Ignoring everything except a court claim is a very good idea 🤔

Euro Car Park tickets go to DCB Legal who discontinue a few months after the online default defence is submitted.
