Trading212.com online problem -what's it all about?

Following the tip in today's weekly email - Free £50 of shares if you invest £100 - I went to the Trading212.com website on my laptop but I was stopped in my tracks.
The page the opened stated "Our systems had detected an unusual amount of traffic from your IP address."
It further stated "Your browser is out of date. Update your browser to view this site properly."
Both of these suggestions are complete rubbish.
Now I'm suspicious and in need assurance that they are not scammers.

They're not scammers. I have a couple of investments with them and have never had any issues with depositing/withdrawing money. They are registered with the FCA.1

Definitely not a scam. Which browser are you using and are you using lots of extensions? Try it with a vanilla version of Chrome.rufford155 said:Following the tip in today's weekly email - Free £50 of shares if you invest £100 - I went to the Trading212.com website on my laptop but I was stopped in my tracks.

Working fine on Chrome and MS Edge, the IP problem can often occur if using a VPN.
T212 is not a scam.1 -
I assume you went to their actual site. Sometimes search engines can suggest a fake site. Unlikely but not impossible.0

Thanks for all your replies.
I did not use a search engine, went direct to Trading212.com.
I was not using a VPN.
I was using Brave browser and will stick with it as it is the most private.
I hate Chrome as it is the least private and Edge is only a last resort.
Their message suggests to me that there's something wrong at their end.
If they can't work with Brave they are setting themselves up for suspicion.0 -
I use Brave and I've just successfully logged into my T212 account with it.rufford155 said:Thanks for all your replies.

It's possible you're using an IP address that has sent malicious traffic to T212 recently and a security layer [such as Cloudflare] is denying you - if so it should be a temporary thing.
You can also on/off your router to try and get a different IP address and try again.0 -
No, the suggestion that I've sent anything before from my IP address is ridiculous as I have never tried the site before.
(I said this, in effect, in my original post).
However I have had a problem ticking captcha boxes on a couple of sites this week so I think Brave itself might be the problem.
Lo and behold an un-notified update was hiding which demanded a reboot so I will try everything again and report.0 -
I wasn't suggesting it was you! You don't have a personal IP address (unless you pay extra and have an ISP who offers static IP addresses). Someone else might have been using it yesterday.rufford155 said:No, the suggestion that I've sent anything before from my IP address is ridiculous as I have never tried the site before.

EDIT - also, if an IP address is trusted less by the security layer services I mention (Cloudflare etc), then this could also increase the number of captcha problems (this is why connecting through a VPN gives people captcha issues)

Some ISPs have fixed IP by default. My Zen does, but my Fibrus changes quite often.0
