Nectar unlocking my card

Just got an email from Nectar, meat of it is:
I keep my card locked to avoid having my points stolen (again`). Can't say I appreciate the help
Spend lock is currently turned on in your account. This means that you will have to unlock spending to spend Nectar points at Sainsbury’s or with our partners before you shop.
What we're doing to help
We'll be unlocking your spending automatically on the 19th of December. We’re doing this to make it easier for you to spend points during the Christmas period.
We will then lock your spending again on the 29th of December.

Since having my points stolen (and to be fair to Nectar they were quickly recredited) I now spend the points once the value exceeds £10, and quite often when it's between £5 and £10. Given that there are rarely any offers that increase the value of points these days, and when there are they are targeted at a small subset of customers which hasn't included me, there seems little point in holding on to them for too long.0

I save them up for a large purchase, my last few coffee machines were purchased that way. Currently have a balance in excess of £125.1

Do you get it cheaper if you use points?TadleyBaggie said:I save them up for a large purchase, my last few coffee machines were purchased that way. That way your money will be safer than if you kept it in points and you'll earn some interest as a bonus. And as another bonus you'll be able to buy the coffee machine wherever you like rather than restricted to places that accept Nectar points.@kimwp generally there is no discount for paying with points unless you happen to be one of the chosen few who is selected for a now rare points offer.2

Now that double up events have gone there’s no reason to hoard points

Not had that e-mail and had to unlock my points to spend them when I filled up at Esso yesterday.0

I think it is much harder for scammers to steal your points now that nectar have changed to a QR code rather than a simple barcode0
