6 weeks and still haven't got my landline or existing phone number ported
Change day was November 5th and the broadband changed with a few problems which were sorted quickly.
However, I have been without my landline and therefore without my phone number of the last 38 years ever since.
The support staff are very polite, promise to solve the problem in a variety of timescales, but basically nothing gets done.
What else can I do?
Is it possible to search to who is holding my old number and whether it's been transferred from TalkTalk to Vodafone?
Any advice welcome.

After that long time I think you have lost your number.imsi said:I signed up with Vodafone to have my broadband and landline moved from TalkTalk.

The old telecom company has to "quarantine" the old phone number for 30 days and then put into the system where the number can be reused. Or something like that.
Talk talk will blame VF and VF blame Talk Talk for the mess
It maybe too late now but you could try Andrew's and Arnold VOIP to see if they can recover the number. Other VOIP provider's are available.0 -
I moved to Sky BB after being with Zen recently and the transfer of landline failed I've concluded the Providers are not a bit interested .
In my Searches for BB offers I found some Providers do not want to do phone calls at all.
Again recently changed mobile phone provider and number transfer failed.
So I think the OP just needs to take a deep breath and use the new number.0 -
They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this as I know it's just a number but lots of people still want to keep the same landline number that they have had for years.dnpark38 said:I moved to Sky BB after being with Zen recently and the transfer of landline failed I've concluded the Providers are not a bit interested .

I know times have moved on but there are other ways to keep in touch with people should be allowed to keep a landline number without having to hope the new providers transfers it ok.1 -
Pffft, only 6 weeks?coughI had this issue, but fortunately had a communication record of them confirming there would be no issue in them porting the number. V blamed TT, and vicky verka. Absolutely does yer 'ead in.Finally resolved by an escalation to an 'official complaint' at Voda - they hate that.Get all the chronological facts together in a concise manner - that you'd requested they port, the dates, the subsequent comms, etc. And submit. Oh, and add it'll go to CISAS (I think it was) if they don't resolve it.0

Very similar issue here with my move (FTTP) from Voda to Sky. Sky said they could port my VOIP number but cancelled my Voda contract within about 5 hours, leaving me without a router. When I was re-connected, 2 days later, I found my phone number 'not recognised' to incoming calls. I assume Sky must have given me a new number without even telling me as I can make calls to them.
When I contact Sky I get put through to Asians with difficult accents. They tell me that it will be sorted in a few days but it is not. I am at my wits end and ready to change my provider again in the hope of getting my number back. Meanwhile the hospital & my GP cannot contact me, my family & friends cannot use my landline to contact me. I've had the number for 47 years so everyone I've known in that time has it.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to how to get my number back, it's been 8 days since the transfer. Ofcom say that numbers can be transferred, no problem. But they would say that, they live in the cloud cuckoo land of govt QUANGOS.

I’m no fan of Ofcom , but this isn’t anything to do with them , if between them Vodafone and Sky they have ‘lost’ your phone number (presumably originally a BT number if you have had it for 47 years ) its not Ofcoms fault that one or both are incompetent.
FWIW , you need to get Sky to at least attempt to get the number back ( TBH , I doubt they will try much at all ) but swapping providers again , makes the number retrieval even less likely to succeed rather than more likely .
If you dial 17070 on your Sky service it should report the number you have been allocated, you can then try calling it yourself to see if it ‘works’ for incoming calls

I'm a bit puzzled as to the first bit of your post, you can't sign up to someone using the OTS system (presuming that's what you used) and get the BB and phone moved over to the new supplier in 5 hours, even the 2 days later when you say you were reconnected wouldn't happen.
Use the link below and choose the 'mail us' option, fill in the online form and they'll have a look for you.
